Shinsingumi. For some, that one word is enough to sell this recommendation. Still, for others, both of these series are fictionalizations of the Shinsingumi, a group from the Bakumatsu period often romanticized in Japanese media to the point of having their own otaku following in Japan. One might argue that both also have an additional fictional character added in as a similar element, but in reality, the main character of Peace Maker Kurogane is actually a real historical figure, yet this doesn't change the fact the takes are unique, one adding a supernatural element to the Shinsingumi and the other adding a POV focus from  read more

Two samurai shows set approximatively in same time period, with some overlapping characters, and red-head main characters!!! Comedy and action mix perfectly in both, however Kenshin is more interesting and gripping. If you liked Peacemaker you'll LOVE Kenshin

Both are historical anime about the same historical period (shinsengumi). Lots of sword fights, serious topics.

Both anime involve the Shinsengumi and a main character who's been through a lot when he was young (Ryunosuke and Tetsunosuke). The main characters start out as wimps but slowly get more mature as they spend more time with the Shinsengumi. Oh, and both shows have a maiko girl who's special to the main character.

Peace Maker Kurogane is a historical drama that is set during the Bakumatsu and is told entirely from the Shinsengumi's perspective. It is not incredibly historically accurate (though it is more true to history than Gintama and is set in the real world rather than an alternate universe) and the Shinsengumi characters are, of course, portrayed differently here than in Gintama, but the series might interest fans who are curious about the Shinsengumi.

Both titles are about the Shinsengumi in the same era of Japan's history. A handful of the characters are featured in both works, so it's interesting seeing the same historic people portrayed differently.

- Both have a young boy as the mc - Both have samurai/ninjas or similar - both lots of action and fight scenes - both have background themes of tragedy and revenge - both have moments where you want to cry BOTH ARE TOTALLY UNDER APPRECIATED! There anime are fantastic for all ages.

Both animes have a positive lead who will do anything to become stronger. Both main characters have the same basic personality, loud, impulsive, and melancholy when reflecting on his own failings. Both lost their parents at a very young age and had to grow up faster than those around them.

Both are sombre stories set in feudalistic Japan that will leave you emptier with every episode. This is definitely one for the tissues. Not for that reason you pervs!

Its about samurai's and has a similar vibe

Both talk about orphans during Japan's Bakumatsu era. In Ryo, the titular character serves the revolutionary Sakamoto Ryōma, while in Peace Maker Kurogane, Tetsunosuke, serves in the Shinsengumi.

Both are historical shounen about a boy who loses his family to an enemy, and his journey to train in order to get revenge for them.

Samurai action is all this show is about and, if you are an aficiendo for that kind of thing than this is the show for you. Set in 1860's Japan Peace Maker Kurogane paints the story from the Shinsengumi's point of view, and not the side we are used to seeing in RK. Fifteen year old Ichimura Tetsunosuke wants to join the ranks to avenge his parent's untimely deaths. However, his short stature and ill temper make him reduce to grunt work for the Vice Commander. A slew of interesting and great characters present themselves throughout the story. Highly recommended!

Peace maker dont have the romance element but it surely has close ties with last phase of Shura no Toki.In peace maker" Shinsugemi_Assassins" are the centre point. Same anime style and same history covered.....

They have almost the entire same English voice cast. Includes Vic Mignogna, Luci Christian, Greg Ayres, Monica Rial, Kira Vincent-Davis, and Kevin Corn.

Both series focuses on the historical ages where warriors, swords, and ideologies clash. Both series balances each other between soft comedy moments and those with emotional appeal. The main character in both series discovers more about himself and others as episodes progresses. Both series features combat involving kenjutsu and puts other warriors' skills at test.

Both animes are similar in the few first episodes: Someone wants to join a group of people that protects the city, but everyone on the group is more stronger than him, but he insists until someone very calm lets him joining. All the other things are different.
