Both concern teens that have to pilot a war machine for the good of the Earth.

It's mainly about a girl destined to pilot a mecha/robot. Both are great stories, and have great characters. If you liked one, you will like the other, although Jinki is a little confusing by the mid, it will clear out eventually, and you'll be glad you watched it.

Both series contain mecha usage as well as military references. Of course with that, there comes missions that the characters takes on daily after training. The characters in both series are interesting to watch and both series contain plenty of action, drama, and some humor.

Both Jinki: Extend and and Eureka Seven are "different" takes on the Mecha Anime Genre, but very similar. Both involve "young" pilots of Mechas (Eureka Seven has Renton and Eureka, Jinki: Extend has Aoba, Akao, Elnie etc), and both involve older Mecha Pilots as well (Eureka Seven has Holland , Matthieu, Hilda, etc. Jinki: Extend has Ryouhei, Genta, Mel J. Both anime are directed by Gilgamesh's Masahiko Murata, and thus share the dark-shonen genre, with Jinki:Extend being more mecha-oriented. They also share a lot of themes, the same script structure and have the same kinds of characters. While obviously not being exempt of defaults, I would say that both series are heavily underrated and if you can overlook their over the top plot as well as sloppy artistry and animation, you're in for two surprisingly enjoyable shows.

Even though Jinki: Extend is more serious, both of these series are about girls piloting mecha. If you've watch Jinki: Extend then watch Sky Girls to make you feel better.
