Wasurenagumo

Both are short movies with plot twist and endings you couldn't expect. Both are parts of Anime Mirai project. 

Both are short stories which take you to a world you don't know very much about but there is some "other" that the main protagonist is up against. Also, you may not know exactly who the protagonist is until towards the end. Both end in a little bit of a twist, Wasurenagumo more than Cencoroll, and while Cencoroll will definitely leave you wanting more, after watching Wasurenagumo you may want to take a break. And think. Two wonderful and creative shorts (about half an hour) - I highly recommend both and to keep an eye on future productions from these directors and artists. 

Kerero Gunsoi and Wasurenagumo are about ordinary people taking care of hostile non-humans, who are actually cute and annoying pests, but try to make themselves threats regardless. They are both comedies as well. 

Both are movies close in length that at most look straight forward and at last look surreal 

Both in both anime, there are cute girls with insect features. In Gokicha!! Cockroach Girl there is a cockroach girl and in Wasurenagumo there is a spider girl. Both are comedies and both are short anime. 

Both are short anime about books and danger that could be hiding inside them. While Wasurenagumo is a short movie, Bavel no Hon is a short special. 

There are yukai in both anime and this short reminds me of a particular part of the story in InuYasha early on where they have to deal with the spiders. 

Both anime use a gothic art style and also use bright colors mixed in. Both stories are of the horror genre. The stories also have a bit of mystery to them. 

Both have supernatural events going on, both have only 1 episode, both leave you asking for more 

Both are about ordinary people dealing with supernatural creatures. 

Both of these titles are single-episode TV specials whose stories focus on folklore fantasy creatures coming to life/being released and a small group of people who must deal with the creature(s) before they threaten lives too much. Shoka is more of a historical piece with ink drawings coming to life, whereas Wasurenagumo takes place in modern times and has a creature that was sealed away getting loose from its sealed location. Even so, The story manages to be self-contained in a mere 24 minutes, and the visuals, while of different styles (boy are they more roughly stylized in Shoka, probably to fit with the theme of ink drawings and calligraphy), are interesting. read more
