Synopsis

The story opens on Pirate Zap's ship, where two of his crew, Bonnie and Max, are tired and want to escape, but unfortunately they have no money. Three children were being held captive on the ship overhear them. The eldest, Amanda, who's father was a pro treasure hunter, knows the whereabouts of a great treasure, and offers them a deal. If they help them make a clean escape, they could take all the treasure they wanted. They agree, and the five of them barely escape and make it onto a small island where they meet Luffy and his crew. Unfortunately they were pursued and Luffy and Amanda are captured and brought back to their boss, the head of the Bayan Pirates, who is also after the treasure. Now Luffy and the others must battle the Bayan pirates and find the treasure that Amanda's father had left for his children. Amanda, who has always resented adventure and treasure because her father was constantly gone in search for it, finally understands his feelings.

Though this special is quite enjoyable it feels the most like filler out of all of them. The story is OK. But just a little bit to dragged out, it should have been 10 minutes shorter, if it was the special would be more enjoyable. However it isn't in any way a bad special. The premise is good, the new characters you meet in this special fit in well within the one piece world and the strawhats are their great personal selves. All in all a real one piece fan should not skip this special.

When it comes to One Piece, I always fall into the bias trap, for me personally, it is really hard to criticize what makes up my all times favorite franchise, but then again, sickness has to be called off. For a One Piece episode, movie, filler, OVA, ONA, special, anything, this was on the lowly low. I'm of course excusing the art department in this one as the time period of its release was never famous for that, it's the setting that was lacking, the oddness, the randomness, the goofiness, it wasn't there.

When starting to watch any One Piece related content, you always come prepared ...

Okay so I enjoyed this one, I mean I haven't seen one I didn't enjoy that much at this point.

I really dug that Nami was wearing Luffy's hat again, I love her in the straw hat!

The back and forth misreading eye contact between Bayan & Zap was HIL-A-RIOUS.

Sanji is so good with kids, this has been very consistent throughout the series I've noticed.

Bayan's weapon reminded me of Jango a bit, it's like a hypnotizing thing? I did think it was totally creepy that it started out like he was making her strip, we then come to find out he was forcing her to ...
