Synopsis

Haruyuki Arita is an overweight, bullied middle schooler who finds solace in playing online games. But his life takes a drastic turn one day, when he finds that all his high scores have been topped by Kuroyukihime, the popular vice president of the student council. She then invites him to the student lounge and introduces him to "Brain Burst," a program which allows the users to accelerate their brain waves to the point where time seems to stop. Brain Burst also functions as an augmented reality fighting game, and in order to get more points to accelerate, users must win duels against other players. However, if a user loses all their points, they will also lose access to Brain Burst forever.

Kuroyukihime explains that she chose to show Haruyuki the program because she needs his help. She wants to meet the creator of Brain Burst and uncover the reason of why it was created, but that's easier said than done; to do so, she must defeat the "Six Kings of Pure Color," powerful faction leaders within the game, and reach level 10, the highest level attainable. After the girl helps Haruyuki overcome the bullies that torment him, he vows to help her realize her goal, and so begins the duo's fight to reach the top.

Accel World have the dynamics between virtual and real world. While in the real world we see our protagonist being completely useless, in the virtual world we see our protagonist being super cool even if the avatar is kinda lame.

We're able to see the journey of Haruyuki developing to become a "normal" human being. In both worlds the interactions between the characters are important to develop our main protagonist.

The animation it's good, the story itself brings nothing new. But above all it's a good show to watch.

The characters in my opinion aren't fully developed, but I don't think it would've matter if they were more ...

Mixed Feelings
Failed remake of sword art online. The character is lousy, uninteresting and generally a coward - the opposite of what you would expect in fiction such as this.

My main problem is the main character, the art style and animation here is subjective as it’s neither bad nor amazing but you might like it, just isn’t for me.

This story remains predictable from the beginning to end and some characters are unintentionally over exaggerated.

Also at some points it seemed like the characters weren’t real in the way they reacted to this new reality

Overall I’ve got mixed feelings on this one, not as horrible as some other adaptations ...

It has its moments with cool visuals and intense battles. The art and animation are consistent, but there's criticism for Haruyuki's chibi design, which feels forced in emphasizing his low self-esteem, but ig it make sense?
The second half of the series i particularly disliked it for illogical character actions, poorly thought-out plots, and frustrating developments you can find certain elements of the plot challenging to digest, impacting the overall enjoyment. While it has its positives like exciting fights and likable side characters, the overall experience for this anime is...
It might be good and enjoyable... But totally not for all viewers:/
