Both BeruBara and Chevalier feature crossdressing and genderbending main characters in a revolution-era French setting that's as accurate as possible, sans the liberties that, of course, had to be taken to create the story.

Two masterpieces with painful and dramatic stories. Le Chevalier D'eon is based on historic events, while Gankutsuou on famous book. The ending in both anime isn't quite a happy ending. Compared, Le Chevalier D'eon is much more dramatic but also I would say the better one from these two.

Both take place in Europe in much older times and the main characters are both people who serve directly under the ruler of their country. Both also contain fantasy and mystery elements

Somber supernatural/horror Production IG anime. Blood+ is longer and action-filled, while Le Chevalier D'Eon is slow-paced, but if you liked one, check out the other too.

The animation is very similar and the plot is somewhat confusing, yet awesome at the same time.

Both series re-tell, real events in the history of different countries (Japan for Bakumatsu, and France for Le Chevalier) with the addition of supernatural elements. They both focus on a supernatural power, which is symbolic of the power struggle undertaken by individuals in the past, to secure their country.

While very different in story and setting, both are very similar in style. Both have mature, complex stories and characters. Both and very serious and grim in tone, having minimal to no comic relief and absolutely no fanservice.

In the second virtual world they use for attacks lyrics and words . You didn't see that too much or hear ^.^ is nice touch with the atmosphere that is created. Yeah! same time classics are put in good use . Boy and girl main characters >..< ...

Both are period dramas (Chinese/French) where they focus on political (and personal) developments in the lives of the people who live during those times. Magic and supernatural happenings form the crux of both anime, and in both cases, are complete ass pulls bc NO explanation is given as to how or why certain people can perform such complex/high levels of magic, which are also conveniently shown only when said people are about to defeat their enemies. Watch this if you like slow burning dramas, altho I give Le Chev an automatic +1 for not being slow paced, and for having female characters that AREN'T laughable,  read more

If you're a fan of zombies, then both series will prove to be enjoyable to you, because a large portion of both focus on the reanimation of corpses. While in Le Chevalier (pre-revolutionary France), it's because of magic/alchemy that corpses come to life and act as killers, in Shisha (Victorian England), the zombies are controlled by humans to further their standard of living. Both are very interesting concepts that are treated very differently.

- both animes deal with tragedy, supernatural things, a bit of romance and mysteries - Both stories are about the tragedy of a dead sister - both sisters were not who they seemed to be - both brothers want to revenge their sister => main difference: Zetsuen plays in today's time and takes place in Japan whereas Le Chevalier D'Eon takes place in France during a much earlier time

Both have a very similar feel to them in similar settings with somewhat similar and driven characters.

Both involve a mystery/conspiracy in a historical fiction setting. Supernatural powers are often used by characters.

If you like politics in your anime, and if you like cool fantasy elements coupled with a great cast, then you need to watch Le Chevalier D'Eon.

Both "Revolutionary Girl Utena" and "Le Chevalier D'Eon" are solid dramas that I feel have a lot in common. Both series have sword fights and duels as their sourse of action. And some of the duels are really exciting, and very well animated! Of course their main focus is the drama, which is handled well in both shows (although I feel "Le Chevalier D'Eon" can be a little dry at times) . Both series are rich, complex, and intricate, with a lot of subtext. Also both series play with the gender roles. Both are mature, refined and complex. And of course both series are very  read more

Both sumptuous historical AU fantasies packed with intrigue and swashbuckling (and a blond pretty protagonist I guess)

Both are from Production I.G., hence the beautiful visuals. Their settings couldn't be more different but the characters and story presentation are very similar. If you enjoyed one you will most likely enjoy the other.

Both deal with people working for the leader of a country and dealing with rebellions and wars of sorts ( in Chevalier it's more like revolution, really ) with fantasy elements and the living dead. They also both contain lots of direct reference to Catholicism.

Both deal with rebellions and knights of a certain kingdom, and of that kingdom's revolution to an extent. They also both contain fantasy elements

What these animes have in common are: a group of people with amazing talents coming together for the sake of there homeland and people being controled by mistike forced and turened to mindless zombies.

Both take place in much older times Europe and contain lots of fantasy and mystery elements. Both of them also have quite a few good fights. Both of them are also about a guy trying to discover the death of a girl close to him, and center around them solving the mystery of their deaths and lifes in general.
