So here we have it: Little Busters!, another anime adaptation from "Key". With that being said you already know what you get yourself into...the dramatic stories of Jun Maeda.
Well...this isn't the case here...
The name of the anime takes the name of the group that is presented in this show.Little Busters is the name of the group that contains five young friends that just want to have fun.
Little Busters! starts off in a high school in Japan, presenting us two of the main cast : Inohara Masato and Miyazawa Kengo fighting for whatever reason , while the third character , Naoe Riki , tries to stop
...
them. At this moment we are presented the next character , Natsume Kyousuke , a third-grader who seems to be the leader of the group , and later we meet her sister and the last from the main cast , Natsume Rin.
The story follows the adventures of these five characters as they want to have as much fun as possible before Kyousuke graduates from high school and so end up starting a baseball club. The story is presented through Riki's eyes as he gathers new members for the club. We soon see that each member he "recruits" has a dark moment in her past and so he starts helping them into overcoming whatever is holding them back.
The most important part of the story is actually the one that revolves around Riki and Rin. A cat keeps bringing them letters with different tasks they have to do...the reward by completing this task would be that they could find out "the secret to this world".
Being done with the starting phase lets get into the actual review.
So Little Busters! already has some mystery in it which will keep you watching until the end and make you crave for more. The story is formed from a number of arcs , one for each side character, and then there is the main storyline presented into different stages of the anime.
Yet...the strong point of this anime are it's characters. They are so well build and unique , and over that the writers made it look like they are real friends, a hard thing to accomplish in the anime world. All of the main casts are friends before starting the anime. The new characters however have one common problem: they don't seem to have any friends. Really...all of the side casts are lonely...like Riki has a magnet for those kind of characters. Let it be a robot-like all perfect and athletic student or a hyper-active trouble maker and sister hater, they don't have one friend at all. Each of them have specific traits and different ideals but in the end they all converge into the Little Busters because that one common problem.
Another think to notice is that even if it's storyline is dramatic and mysterious the show presents us with quite a bit of laughs. You can expect anything from this anime in this particular zone, don't think anything is too much for them.
The art of the anime isn't something you can praise but you will live with it.
On the other hand soundtrack is something you can't live without. Well no really but it was really good. There are a couple of songs you can listen to even if free time. Also, this soundtracks are well placed to get you in the mood for the anime.
In the end...everything come down to personal enjoyment right?
I liked the anime, and be sure I will be watching Little Busters!: Refrain soon.
What I liked about it is the way they present the bonds of friendship. The story is still a bit foggy but I hope it will be cleared in the next season. If you don't watch it for characters or storyline then the comic part is the last reason why you should watch it...
