Don't judge the book by its cover, the artwork on the cover put me off but when I randomly decided to watch it to see how bad it was I was blown away, the art is actually good in the anime, it doesn't look bad at all, it looks great even, it has some 80's and 90's feels, so far it's an amazing anime, with great art, a simple yet solid plot, great variety of characters, truly undeserving of its low score of 6.48 as of today 4/26/24, that low score was given unfairly since day one and most people haven't given it a chance
...
because of the low score. I usually don't write reviews, but seeing such a hidden gem with a low score like this is so upsetting.
I'll break it down a little:
Characters: 9/10
The characters are a great thing about this series, they are very well-designed and they are a breath of fresh air, as most character rosters lately are just the same generic types. All the characters have their personality and complement each other, they feel organic. The main female character is sweet sweet yet super chill, she feels so different from your typical nice girl, she feels real, like a light-headed kinda clumsy girl, yet not stupid nor cartoonishly expressive, the main male character is cool, he's funny and a good person yet he's not a wuss, he actually shoots his shots but the misunderstandings are so big that he gets setbacks a lot of the time, but still he keeps advancing and deepening their relationship, the other characters are fun but it would take too long to explain each character.
Story: 7/10
The story is fairly simple yet good, it's about an alien princess that is looking for a mysterious key that's hidden in Astro Lodge, whilst a faction of an opposing planet wants to stop her from getting it, our MC is a chef looking for work that falls in love with the princess, while looking for the key, concealing her identity and fighting other aliens; a love between them will bloom, slowly but steady.
Artstyle: 8/10
As I said earlier I thought this was bad, I thought it was gonna look like an H anime, but that's just the covers, in motion it's a different story, and boy was I surprised, it is pleasant for real, it might not be the best but I could say that it's above average.
Music: 7.5/10
The opening and ending are good, and the score through the episodes matches very well the situations, as it is a comedy it won't have a Hans Zimmer type of music but it does the job pretty well.
Comedy: 10/10
The characters and their deviousness, the misunderstandings, and the plot devices get you laughing the whole time.
Overall: 9/10
Definitely recommend it, please give it a shot, you won't regret it.
