Both main characters are teens that started weak and grew stronger through training. Also both main character use spacial weapon. Both have a father that is rarely home Both character are sociable in one way or another, and get to know a lot of new friends on their journy. The main character is placing his friends safety at top priority and will go through a lot of hardship to defend them, and the same goes for his friends who will do the same for them. Both main characters have to fight and if they lose they learn from the expirience and train for next time. In both anime the character develope their own power discovering a kind of "energy" that involved in their power. In both anime there is a weird mentor. (first recommendation would be glad to here comments)
