I think the best way to explain the charm of this series is to contrast it with the authors other work, "the girl I like forgot her glasses", which is a fun, incredibly fluffy romcom with a slightly annoying mc- you have seen similar a thousand times.

This is absolutely none of those things, except for it also being romance. This manga is unique, its fascinating, its enthralling, it's almost fluffless (something that shoudlb e impossible for a romcom that isn't a drama), it's clever, it's refreshing, especially the mc, it's well written, it is just so fucking good.

Maybe the simplest explanation what the charm is ... that it JUST SHOULD NOT WORK. Both of the main characters start of as shells of human beings, one of them a narcisist lacking even some of the simplest kinds of empathy, the other one just baely hiding hercomplete lack of self-worth. None of these two should get anywhere near romance in their current state, and that isn't even talking about the age difference. It just shouldn't work without being trashy.

It's one of the most exhilerating and incredible feeling to experience the author making it work anyway. I think this unironically became my favourit manga romance.

Of course, maybe even simpler: Tasku is the romcom mc you wanted to ave in every single series where you at any point ot frustrated by the mc or the main character lack of communcation.

Probably first timer ever that a pv for a new season will be 100% recommended for anybody wacthing the show.
There are no spoilers for season 3, just a normal skit that is pretty meta.
I think the art quality is slightly below what we are used to from the show normally, but that is more than made up by certain scenes which look incredibly and kaguyas normal over the top style.
Really there is nothing else to say, it is fucking kaguya-sama, is unnaturally funny like it always has been, watch it if you have watched the first two seasons.

Writing a review about this seasons, I feel like theoretically I SHOULD talk about how we are finally focusing on characters and using the builduo of season 1, how the mc finally gets some time to shine or how we are finally getting some of that madoka darkness that so many people missed in season 1.

But everytime I want to do so and try to formulate a coherent thought I immediatel get distracted by remembering how absolutely fucking incredible the action sakuga for this show looks. It is complete nonsense that we are somehow at 3 out of 4 episodes with "action animation that I ... literally have never seen before outside of movies and mabye certain episodes of mob or demon slayer.

I think the latest episode 4 highlights this insanity more than any other. It would have made sense that shaft would go all out for episode 1, the nostalgia episode that anyone who watched the original can (and should!) watch, or episode 2, which reintroduced us to the magia record storyline. It was still more sakuga than you could reasonably expect, but it would have made sense.
But the amount of glorious animation that wouldn't be misplaced even in a final battle for a fight against a random mob that wasn't even the climactic fight of the episode 4 is utterly ridiculous in any way you look at it and it breaks my mind that the show topped itself in the very same episode.

I really don't get why shaft is going so hard for this show (especially when a full adaptation is already confirmed) but I am very thankful. I can't even imagine how popular this show would have been if season 1 would have looked like this, I'm pretty sure nobody would have cared about the flaws of season 1.

There are two possible reasons why you should watch kanojo mo kanojo:
1. You love watching stupid characters being hilariously stupid together
2. You really want to watch a harem show where the characters actually communicate about their relationship and also everything else.
This is also why I disagree with a lot of people who call this show "trashy", there simply has been too much communication already for that label to apply. But once again, this anime IS indescribably stupid, and that and the comedy around it is like 90% of the charm.

Both of these points are perfectly encapsulated by the mc naoya. His unwavering honesty with his ... with what he wants, his desires, his flaws or literally anything else easily can be annoying to people (and he is genuinely flawed), but I find it impossible for me to be angry at him because damn is he honest with it.
Sakis voice actor is killing it and makes the entire thing so much funnier.

The adaptation in general has been great so far, even adding things compared to the manga that strictly improve the overall anime.

I should probably add that the first episode (more specifically the first 16 minutes) were really cringy to me and it took me like 40 minutes to get through them, so definitely gives this anime at least 2 episodes, and because eisode 3 was probably the best one so far, I even give it 3. But if the anime isn't for you, you probably already know that after episode 2.
