- Mystery-centric plot that is very well planned ahead - Characters took classes, joins society, fights the establishment and wars - MC grows psychologically throughout the series - Great worldbuilding, great side characters - Relatively serious narration with some humour - No ecchi, powerful and important female characters

The test system is relatively similar, when I watched HxH, it struck me how much Tower of God S1 resembled it in that aspect. The nen system in HxH is similar to the shinsu system in Tower of God. Both are used for various functions in combat

Imo the most similar to ToG in terms of overall theme, narration, plot, and characters. Both have a relatively serious narration with a hint of humour. Started out with "lessons" but evolve into a story with much bigger, darker themes, and have a mix of wit and action for fights Both have "Chosen MC" who gradually moulds into his role. Characters are often morally ambiguous, have diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and outlooks on life. Lack of female character sexualisation, both have strong female characters in powerful positions. ** mild spoilers ** Uncovering past mysteries, toppling oppressive establishments, power struggles between different factions and wars. Both overarching story are well planned ahead and coherent, with some daily life but little "fillers" Art started out... rather amateurish, but makes up with brilliant plot and improves tremendously over time Definitely a recommend!
