I am not sure why no one has reviewed this manga before, but I will give it a go.
This was one of few mangas that impacted me a lot during my adolescence life. It began with a story of a robot builder who have been ridiculed all his time competing in robot competition, meeting someone who tries to be as normal as possible, not sticking out like a sore thumb.
That fateful encounter changed the latter, and with more addition to the team they began to embark on more competition with more member. It was one of those fresh moment in shounen manga around early 20003

where the main protagonist didn't always win (spoiler alert: he didn't win at all). However, I was moved by the effort, trust, and belief they poured into their robot, how they solved the limitation of their design, and how did that fare against their contender.
The main showdown was of course the match with the elite school that ended up in an interesting twist to determine the winner. The protagonist, managed to put a surprise in the face of the unbeatable school with their impeccable analysis to become reigning champion. The way things got out of plan and continued on an impromptu showdown, was very interesting.
This was one of the series I was closely following on Weekly Shounen, and I was really happy they printed on the tankoubon volume. However, I was kinda disappointed the story only run over 3 volumes.
This was a short story, but I was moved from my early age by their determination of continue doing what their love, finding friends, believer, and rival along the way. I guess that is just what us adults begin to forgot in our mundane lives...
