Story: This OVA is based off the game by the same name "Tales of Symphonia" basically there is a girl that is the "chosen" and she is to go on a mission to save her world from dying of a mana shortage. She is joined by her friends and they go on the journey for her to become an angel, which she needs to become to save the world. Now, I won't say this OVA won't be enjoyable if you haven't played the game, but you will notice that there are big gaps in time which they are supposed to be filled in in the
...
game. And if you've played the game, you'll be disappointed only because it has sooo much potential to be a very good anime series, but it cuts short :( Assuming you haven't played the game, there'll be some plot twists, and should keep you interested.
Art: If you've played the game, then you've seen the movie cut scenes that show up every now and then, and seeing as how Gainax produced those scenes, it's understandable that it was high end animation. Although Gainax doesn't produce the OVA, the quality stays. The characters are drawn well, and all the animation is smooth.
Sound: I assume sound means the soundtrack and voice acting, both of which I felt were okay. I enjoyed the voice acting more than I did the music, mainly because of a very good cast. You'll recognize many of the voices, and I they fit the characters well. The soundtrack wasn't bad, but nothing memorable, personally, i got kind of bored the OP, and ED.
Character: The characters never had a chance to progress, mainly because the series was so short. There was some progression, such as with Sheena and Lloyd, and change of character with someone else..., but there wasn't much gradual change. The characters are fun to watch, there are many personalities, serious, nerdy, naive, kind, etc. with all of them complementing each other.
Enjoyment: Ever since I played the game a few years ago, I loved the movie cut scenes, and always said that they should make a series just from this, and now that they did, I had to watch. Although it did not nearly meet my expectations, I did enjoy it, in fact it had me wanting much much more. But as a person who has never played, I'd imagine that they would enjoy this series moderately, seeing as they'll obviously notice plot gaps, and a pseudo-ending.
Overall: I give this series a 7 mainly because I thought it had an unimaginable amount of potential, but alas, this OVA series seems more like a promotional trailer for the game. And seeing as it is an OVA, it's too short, making the creators progress the story too quickly. I'd recommend anyone to watch this, and it may even make you want to play the game.

I don't remember how I found out about Strawberry Panic, but I'm glad I did, because it was quite an enjoyable show. But enjoyable does not translate into genius.
Story: The story is interesting, especially if you're into lesbians. And as a yuri genre anime, what else would you expect? The show is not episodic, but the episodes don't segue well to each other. The story is about a girl that's new to the school, and her first day there she meets the Etoile, kinda like the Queen (sorta) of the school and there is an immediate attraction between the two. One of the faults of
...
this anime is that it was extremely predictable (at least i thought so). One of the guidelines to write a review is try not to reveal spoilers, and I won't have to, you'll probably figure it out as you watch.
Art: The girls were drawn in a typical shoujo type of art, tall looking thin girls with large breasts, and huge eyes (but not too big...the eyes). The animation is consistent throughout, though not amazing. Even though the art was fine, one of the things that i noticed was that almost all of the girls' faces look alike, the only difference being the difference in eye shape (some of them). The only other way to really tell them apart without listening to them is by their hairstyle and uniform.
Sound: The soundtrack of the anime was fine, but nothing impressed me. One of the biggest deciding factors for a good grade on sound for me is a good OP/ED, but neither caught my attention enough for me to look for the OST. The background music is okay, but i think they use the same one for many "dramatic" situations, making it old (unless i can't tell the difference, and they weren't the same)
Character: Pretty much what you see is what you get with your characters. They don't really progress, personality wise, but there are lots of changes in relationships. Again predictability plays a factor here, and what you expect the character to do, they'll most likely do. The characters are unique and don't have overlapping counterparts, but there are lots of the same character relationships, and example being... love triangle with one unrequited lover that loves the lower level characer, one upper level character that loves a lower level character, and that lower level character admires/loves the upper level character
Enjoyment: I enjoyed this show, not a lot, because i noticed some of its faults, but enough for me that i could watch it again and not consider it a waste of time. This is far from a masterpiece, but it might be good fun to watch, especially if you're in a "i don't want to watch yaoi/shonen-ai anime dangit, let's watch some yuri/shojo-ai" mood
Overall: It was a good anime, and it could've done better in my opinion if the story had been a bit more compelling, and not so predictable. And though this is personal opinion, i was kind of disappointed at the ending (though i expected it), with none of my characters matching up with who i wanted. :(

before you judge me and think i'm going to only bash on Hunter x Hunter, i'll tell you right now, i'm not. the truth is, i really enjoyed the tv series and the first and second OVAs were good too. but this OVA disappointed me to such a degree i couldn't believe it, first off, the story, the story is just continuing Gon and Killua's journey on Greed Island, and this is going to finish it off.
The story wasn't as good as the other parts of the Hunter x Hunter franchise because it was somewhat rushed to the conclusion, and there wasn't much development, more
...
like just an appearance of powers with not too much effot.
The art maintained from the series and other OVAs, not impressive, but good enough.
The sound, personally didn't impress me, i didn't think Hunter x Hunter had a good soundtrack, not that it was bad, but it didn't make me want to listen to it again.
Here is where the OVA truly fell short compared to the others. Gon and Killua were my favorite characters, but all of a sudden, Killua is kicked to the back burner, and becomes, i think, a little part of the story. and Gon, he started out as a naive boy that would never give up, until he couldn't go on, that's perseverance. But there's a thin line between that and stubborness, and he crossed it indefinitely. he started to bug me so bad, i actually wished he would lose a fight or something, knock sense into him, a character never annoyed me so badly, when at first they were one of my favorites. if you've watched the other Hunter x Hunter stuff, you'll notice the difference.
enjoyment, i didn't enjoy it oo much, but enough to finish it, since i wanted some sort of closure.
Overall i gave it a middle grade, because you should watch this OVA after all the others, you don't want to leave it undone, but be warned, this might change your opinion of the rest of the franchise as well

if you haven't watched this anime yet, and haven't because of some people saying it is a Neon Genesis Evangelion knock off, i just have to say...yeah, it is, but that doesn't change that it is a great anime, to tell you the truth, i would call this the simpler man's NGE, and it's totally understandable if they enjoy this more than NGE, the story is kind of complicated, but it doesn't leave too many questions left unanswered, and isn't too predictable, the music of the anime fits the mood well, and the ED is a deep, chilling song, the character designs are beautiful, and
...
the animation is always at a high level, character development progresses well, except for the occasional change in feelings or personality that happened too quickly, enjoyment wise, i really liked it, so much that i marathoned the series after the 2nd or 3rd episode

the modern day prototypical shonen anime, it exemplifies what shonen is all about with a young hero and his friends, including lots of action and humor. I really enjoyed watching this, I gave it an 8 for story when it actually was sticking to the main story line, I didn't count the filler episodes, which i admit make up pretty much the second half of the entire series, but even the fillers brought some good chuckles for me, and a couple of action gems. The art was pretty good, and I'll say that look forward to a very important fight, where the animation takes two

steps up. The sound or music I assume was pretty good, and the OP and ED of the anime were fun to listen to, especially Haruka Kanata (OP2). The characters are awesome, some of my favorites are in this anime, although some may dislike Sakura... I wholeheartedly recommend this anime to anyone that enjoys shonen anime, unless you're the type that's more into real deep stuff, and you think you're too high and mighty to watch it.
