Suehiro kenichiro composed the soundtrack to this show that brings it to life. I doubt anybody could have brought such color through appropriate melodies and use of instrumentation.
Shows general theme is about finding optimism and opportunities to view things in a positive light, as well as enjoying brief respites of joy during hardship.
Hardship is never displayed to viewer as terribly serious, or anxiety inducing. Hardship is almost always overtaken by some moment of appreciation for something during their travels, such as a beautiful sunset or the experience of trying something new, such as roasted fish.
Wonderful interplay of instruments such as xylophone to exemplify

playfulness, curiosity and relaxed vibe; high pitched angelic harmonized choir with harp and recorder to exemplify a sort of sad nostalgia, and a feeling of attempting to uplift oneself in a heavenly pursuit of something. Heavenly being the optimal word to describe the airplane episode.
Show manages to occasionally attempt to challenge the viewer with some philosophical idea without it being too serious for the shows natural playful vibe.
All in all, this how is definitely in my top 20 for shows that are so good, I can only watch them once every couple of years to maintain my enjoyment of it. I want every rewatch to feel the same as it did the first viewing. A fantastic show for those who enjoy heartwarming stories and playfulness.
