This show was just weird, janky, and unenjoyable. And that's coming from someone whose favorite anime is the Evangelion franchise. This whole show all around just wasn't worth my time and most likely isn't worth your time either. Let me get into the details as to why I didn't like this show.
Story: Honestly, this is one of the better aspects of the show believe it or not. I somewhat enjoyed the story solely based on the ending. It was a cool ending and I'm a sucker for cool things. As for the rest of the show, it was on the weaker side and honestly
...
unenjoyable at times. There were parts of the show that were so over-sexualized and I really didn't like those parts. They didn't add anything to the story and definitely didn't need to be there. I wouldn't be mad if someone enjoyed the story though. I could see the aspects they could enjoy but personally, I could not invest myself into the story at all.
Art: This has to be one of my least favorite parts of this show. It just felt overall janky and unpolished. I feel like coming into this show the art was definitely something I wasn't banking on. I already knew from the trailers that I didn't like it, but damn was it worse than I thought. It felt so inconsistent and as if the animators had no real passion for the work.
Characters: God damn were they so bad. Not even being extra when I say they had to be by far the worse things in this show. All the characters seemed so flat and had no change, except for some exemptions. The only character in the main cast to really change was Ryo and honestly even that was dumb and came out of nowhere. Miki's character just felt so unreal and unrealistic. Akira and Miko were fine. My favorite character was honestly Wamu. He changed throughout the course of the show and it felt well written and deserved, unlike a lot of the other characters. Even for a minor role, he was by far the best character.
Overall I would recommend this if you have nothing else to watch. It could be a good change of pace but honestly not an enjoyable change.

What even is there to say about this movie. A lot actually. Coming into this movie I was expecting a wholesome movie with good animation but nothing really special, but instead, I got a movie that could compete to be one of my favorites. This movie was beautiful in a lot of ways. The characters, the story, the animation, and the music were all so amazing that they outweighed the very little bad that there was. When I say there was very little bad I really mean it, I could only think of maybe one thing that I could call out as "bad" but in
...
all reality, it's more of a nitpick of mine. Let's start with that one bad thing, then move onto all the good things.
Starting with the only nitpick I had with this movie. The relationship between the main Lady and Aoyama was honestly a little strange for me. In this, I directly mean the way the Lady interacted with Aoyama. I think that her relation to Aoyama should've maybe been expanded on a little more because the way it seemed was very weird. I assume from what is shown is that the Lady is some type of babysitter for Aoyama, but that just doesn't really make sense sometimes. If she were Aoyama's babysitter why doesn't she also take care of his sister? Also, it's shown multiply times that Aoyama's mother stays home, so why doesn't she take care of him? It's a very small detail but it can sometimes just be seen as weird.
With that out of the way, I can move on to the many things I loved in this movie. I'm going to touch on the characters, animation, and story beats.
First off, the characters in this movie seem so based in reality and I enjoyed that aspect of them a lot. Starting with our main character Aoyama, he's just a boy that happens to be really smart. That's his character and I really love that. He tries to act like nothing bothers him and as if he's above everything but, in reality, he does get put down and put his place by the Lady and his bullies. When he's with the Lady is where he tries to flaunt and be big, but it's actually when he's the most childish. The Lady speaks on this when she compares him to the penguin in the photograph that puffing up its chest even though he's the smallest one in the pack. I think that was really smart for the writers to implement. I really loved how Aoyama was so invested in the Lady's chest. As a young boy obviously he's going to be curious about a woman's body, mostly with how beautiful the Lady is. Next, you have Uchida who is the comic relief character. There isn't much to say about him. He does his job as a comic relief character and I really loved him for it. He was so cute and funny when he was just being clumsy here and there. With Hamamoto, there's a lot more depth and a lot more enjoyment to gain from it. She's not as flat as Uchida but also isn't too deep that she competes with Aoyama for screen time. She is smart and is shown as Aoyama's equal and it's portrayed pretty well. She helped push the plot forwards and added a little side story with Suzuki. Talking about Suzuki, he was one of Aoyama's bullies that ultimately ended up helping him. There wasn't much to him, but as a bully character that's what I expected. I thought it was really predictable that he liked Hamamoto but it still added to the story's overall enjoyment. All the rest of the characters weren't really important.
Onto the animation, it was amazing and beautiful for all of the 118-minute runtime. There wasn't one bit of this movie where I thought the animation could be better. I enjoyed this movie for its characters and writing but the amazing visuals really tied it all together. I would rewatch this movie without the subtitles just to see how pretty it really is. I have high respect for all the animators working on this anime.
Lastly, the story was just as phenomenal as any other aspect of this movie. The story changed a couple of times but any good movie does that. It never had a dull moment with the changing mysteries and with the kids searching around their city. Even with the changing story it managed to all come together and give a satisfactory ending. One thing I didn't like at first but ended up enjoying was the idea of death and goodbyes. It felt abrupt when Aoyama's sister came crying to him about their mother's death but it added another layer to the overall story that by the end was necessary. Deaths are never an easy thing to portray in children's movies but I think this movie did an amazing job with it.
Overall this movie was amazing I truly would recommend this for anyone and everyone. There's so much to enjoy in this movie and I wished I watched it earlier. Imma give this a 10/10, even though I did point out a small nitpick I had with this movie everything else in this movie vastly outways the small inconvenience that detail left on me. Go watch this movie with a family remember, a partner, or just by yourself, just make sure to watch it on a display that will show all of this movie's beautiful colors.

*Minor Spoilers*
Coming into this anime I was expecting a lot, and it very much delivered on my thoughts. It was beautiful and amazing throughout all of its runtime. It truly showed how accepting yourself isn't always easy but learning to love yourself is very important. I loved so much about this anime but there were some faults and small little things that did bother me. Let's start with the "bad" things first.
To start with the bad, I somewhat didn't like Touko Nanami's character. At the beginning of the show when Touko admits to falling in love with Yuu I just couldn't believe it, and
...
not in the 'Oh, this is such a sweet story" but in more of an "oh really now?". It just seemed too unrealistic and somewhat forced. That thought lingered with me through the whole show and kinda dumbed down Touko's characters. That to say that her character did grow and change like everyone else's and became more interesting but I wasn't able to shake that thought.
Secondly, I didn't like how some characters were utilized. I thought that characters such as Akari Hyuuga and Seiji Maki were some of the worst aspects of the show. Akari Hyuuga felt the most underutilized. I understand that she played her role and that's all that was needed but I still feel like there could've been a better way to use her in the story. As for Seji Maki, I feel as the writers had a plan for him but they scraped it last second and forgot about him. His character was really promising and his dynamic with Yuu could've been really interesting, but sadly he got so little screentime and ultimate wasn't really useful in moving the plot forward.
Those are just some of the things I didn't like. I'm sure there are more but I think that the good out ways all of the bad. Talking about the good let's get into the things that I enjoyed and liked about this show.
First off, I honestly liked how it ended with so many loose ends. There were so many characters that just didn't get a justified or nice ending. The thought of the loose ends didn't come till very late in my watching but right after finishing this show, I realized that's how this story is meant to be seen. The relationships that these characters create are ever-changing and don't just come to an end because this story comes to end. They're still their own beings in this world and without us, they will change and continue creating ripples into each other's lives. For this, I commend the writers for creating such an intelligent ending.
Secondly, I enjoyed Sayaka Saeki's character a lot. I think she was one of the characters that didn't really get a justified ending but that I still enjoyed her ending. Her character helped push the plot along but also helped the audience better understand the purpose of the story. Her learning to accepting her feelings towards Touko and women, in general, made me realize what the show was truly about.
Lastly, I just wanted to touch on the sound design of this show. The music and subtle touches here and there really added mounds of depth and flavor into this show. I really appreciate how the music and sounds were never too overpowering and how you only noticed it when it elevated the story. I also really like the tune that plays when coming back from an ad break. It was one of my favorite parts of each episode.
With all of that said I really enjoyed this show and I'm really glad I was able to watch it. I recommend this show to anyone really. It had bites and slices of everything anyone could want. For everything, this show is worth I can give it a solid 9/10. Not exactly a masterpiece but definitely one that I will look back on and be happy with.

First things first, I watched the English dub of this show. All the people that told me to watch this show watched the English dub so I thought I would follow along.
With that out of the way, I thoroughly enjoyed this show and I'm so glad I watched it. After being told to watch this show for so long I was honestly expecting it to be overhyped and not that funny or enjoyable but I was happily surprised. The beginning of this show like most other shows was iffy. It honestly didn't really draw me in at first but I felt like it could've
...
been promising. (I was right)
The boys in the Host Club very much played into their roles at first and were strictly only that for a couple of episodes, but luckily they started to grow and become a lot better. The initial thought of the Hitachiin brothers and Mitsukuni kinda creeped me out and I thought I wouldn't be able to get over their character types but with time they grew on me and they started to actually feel like people and not just these character roles. I still wish Takashi got more screen time. Haruhi was an amazing main character and I thoroughly enjoyed her. (She was really pretty too)
With the characters out of the way I will say the dub does have some outdated terms that didn't exactly age well but they're so far apart that it doesn't really bother me.
The actual story of this show was just enjoyable honestly. I never felt too serious and I feel like it would be fun just to work on this show. When the show did get serious it felt appropriate and justified.
Overall I really enjoyed this show and would recommend it to anyone with some free time. I personally didn't rate it any higher than a 7 because it just didn't really feel deserving of anything higher than that. Maybe wth a revisit or two in the future the rating will go up. This might even become a comfort show.

I honestly think this movie was just fine. The sales of the movie made me expect a lot more but I think that for the future I should remove the sales from the actual art. All that to say that this movie was still enjoyable. The characters in this movie felt somewhat shallow. Rengoku's character didn't really leave an impact on me even with the emotional feeling, but the art and voice acting was great. It was really easy to immerse myself in this movie and into the story because the sound direction and music were great. I felt like this could've easily just been
...
a couple of episodes just stitched together.
I wish I could've enjoyed this movie more but as it stands I couldn't give this movie anything more than a 6.

I personally liked this season so much more than the first. This season had amazing animation and at times it was breath taking. This season was a very nice combination of both comedy and action. I felt as if the first season was too much comedy and not enough story but this season most definitely made up for that. There was one point in this season where I just knew I loved it. It had mulitple fights that honestly are in my top 5 of all time now.
As for why I don't rate it higher than an 8 is beacsue I felt like
...
the beginning of this season was very slow and honestly lack luster. I understand that you can't always have high action and amazing animation but I felt like that time could've been used better. With time I might rewatch this season and honestly give it a 9 or 10.
I still thorougly enjoyed this season and honestly have it as a must watch.
