If you told me you watched this for the plot, i might actually believe you.
Redo of healer offers us a few things, a unique take on the revenge trope, an interesting world, and psychotic antagonists. Oh, almost forgot, the sex scenes that take up a good 3+ minutes every single episode. This show really is an enigma. take every anime trope you, put it on steroids, and then you have this show.
It opens off with a broken, psychologically and physically assaulted character who used to only want to be a hero. It wouldent be until later
...
on until he realized how cruel and corrupt they really were. Thats where things take a spin. Take that traumatized character, give him a second chance with all his previous memories, and lets not forget the ability to steal the powers of those he kills. Not to mention hes the horniest MC you will ever lay eyes on. As you can imagine, yeah, his character stays pretty consistent through the series offering ways of torture crueler then you could ever imagine, and not missing a second to screw people just for the fun of it.
If you watched this expecting a stable plot, solid characters/development, and independent side characters, clearly you cant read the comments. To put it lightly, this show is beyond fucked up. If I had a penny for every time I felt unbelievably disgusted, i'd use the money to buy a one way ticket to the writer of this show and sign them up for therapy. This show feels like the ultimate satire of all satires for the male power fantasy, and its almost funny how absurd the show can get at times. There were so many times in this show where i wanted to root for the mc, getting revenge on all the people who wronged him but i'd have to put myself in jail if I supported the way he went about this, even if they were creative and unexpected.
should you watch it? Yes, its certainly an experience, but only with the heavy disclaimer that it gets really. really dark. with a completely unfiltered exploration of dark themes, this series refuses to shy away from showing the audience the cruelest way of getting revenge from a complex protagonist thats driven to the absolute furthest point of darkness to achieve his goal, which in perspective, is actually good. By all means if you compare this to any other anime with some shred of dignity and intelligence, it puts this one to the bottom of the barrel. But if your curious, or even just think the art looks good, go for it.
you know what your doing if you choose the un-censored version.

To put it simply, watch this if you want an entertaining series, not a meaningful one.
This is an important thing to consider if your thinking about watching this. The series definitely has some things going for it, the art for one is gorgeous, so if you were drawn to it just because of that for that reason its totally understandable. Second of all, the fight scenes. overall the clashes between characters fell unique, and the abilities characters had feel fresh and unique for an anime that has superpowers present. tropes aside, the concept of the
...
anime is interesting.
Now, if you want a romance between characters that has you rooting for them to progress further as they go through their ups and downs, this is not for you. A proper romance anime is one that takes you on an emotional journey, slowly watching the characters grow and develop, and even if the protagonists appear to be polar opposites, you understand why they fall for each other in the end. If you agree with that assessment, then do not watch this anime if that's what your looking for. The romance aspect of it is an incredibly small aspect of the series, it blossoms almost instantaneously at the start, no character tension or anything, then disappears for the rest of the series up until the end.
The series revolves around the idea of a character who's at the bottom of the barrel, with his entire school career depending on his ability to get to the top. Its an incredibly interesting concert for sure, but with the predictability of the protagonist's actions mixed with his blatant plot armor, its hard to be emotionally invested in the series. Not only that, but the main character goes through little to no impediments on his journey to the top. without getting to spoiler heavy, the only time we see any kind of struggle for the protagonist to get to the top is in the start, and the very last episode of the series. In my honest opinion, the best fight scene in the series that actually had me questioning who would win was in a side plot with a character he only had to fight once, that pushed him nowhere in the direction of achieving his goal of getting to the top. The main plot felt less of "climbing to the top", and more of "taking an elevator to the top." In this elevator journey to victory, the side characters only purpose is to support the main protagonist. the side character development is small, I think I can only count one or two times when side characters faced problems that visibly changed them as a person. there are a lot of problems relating to plot in most aspects, but if you dont care, then watch it.
yeah, that list of cons was much bigger then the pros. as a quick personal note, I watch anime purely for entertainment and dont actively seek out finding problems with shows, but this one had some pretty glaring issues that made this a pretty hard watch. But if you can put that all aside, and purely appreciate it for its art and choreographed fights, then give it a watch. maybe find a day where you are bored out of your mind and sit down, binge it, then forget about it a week later.

Let’s cut to the chase before I go in depth. You should watch this anime.
Unlike traditional vampire/human worlds where the core basis of the show is humans surviving these “beasts”, it focuses on the more interpersonal relationships between the two, and growing to understand a different species for who they are as people, aswell as trying to co-exist, with a beautiful art style and characters. If can be slow at times, but without revealing anything a second season is going to absolutely make up for it.
There are some glaring flaws, but I feel that the pros make these cons worth the 8/10.
The themes and
...
conflicts that arise that should be brought up more in romance anime. Questioning if you really love someone or it just being because your attention starved, thinking you have to change for somebody else so they like you, navigating the reality of… not knowing what to do when you like someone, or even in this case, HOW do you like someone. the list goes on, but these are just a few that really struck home. This show brought to life so many issues and were able to frame them incredibly well from the vampire/human stance.
The characters (although some I wish had more depth/opportunity for grown) are all very interesting, i felt like after finishing the show and looking back on everything, so many of their decisions started to make more sense, touch in very glad was included into the character development. That being said, there are some side characters that have NOTHING to them, but if you are not nit -picky, it shouldn't be a big deal.
Finally, the atmosphere and music. Something about it always felt so relaxing. The color palette of galaxy colors really fit the theme of the anime, and gave it a very relaxed, almost ethereal sensation, which I commend the show for including.
Now for the glaring cons.
there’s only about two problems I have with this anime.
1. the unnecessary, and sometimes incredibly weird side plots put in with little reason
2. And the ages of the characters
1. These two follow pretty it suit, and they are both problems that could be fixed easily. There are some episodes dedicated to a plot line of a character who has no other significance then to…. Honestly couldn’t tell you. it can be a bit frustrating at times, and feels like it gives less time for the real relationship between the two protagonists, but over all manageable.
2.all I need to say, is why they chose to have the mc be a 14 year old. He could have easily at least been in Highschool and the plot would not have changed ONE bit, only made it less weird/ pervy.

This is a sequel that by the end of it is making you feel nothing but wishing you got more.
There are some things that I think this sequel does really well, but at the same time struggles in. But let’s start off with the good things.
The creators of this do a pretty incredible job of making the characters stay true to themselves, which at times can be really frustrating because you want things to progress, but similarly doesn’t make anything that happens that seems forced or purely is there for fan service. The development of the characters feels natural, and the few “is it gonna
...
finally happen?” Moments feel incredibly rewarding. It’s also worth mentioning that we see a lot of side characters having by developing relationship that are equally worthy of emotional investment.
That being said, there are times when it feels like nothing is happening, and even when it does, an episode later it’s like that thing didn’t even happen in the first place. Through the second season rikka and the DRAGON FLAME MASTER!!! dynamic never really changes, something I wish there was more of. If I had a penny for every missed opportunity yuuta had to do something romantic, or at least show his affection, I’d have enough to finally pay for college. if I could change one thing it would probably be for more creative instances of drama, and more time to show why they are even together in the first place
At the end of the day this is a really fantastic series, I loved watching their dynamic grow (even with how slow it really is), the art work, and increasingly for the characters around the two in their club.
