I'll just say it this was one of the best animes of the decade if not ever its a master piece through and through with one of the best story , Ost, characters, art, and dialog out of any other anime I have watched but lets just take it 1 at a time also spoilers throughout but the big one is at the end.
Characters - 9.5:
Characters are the building blocks of a good story; dialog comes from the characters, the story revolves around the characters and a good Ost comes from making the music sound like that
...
character. Every character is amazing in Oshi no ko in their own special way but lets start of with my favorite Ai
Ai Hoshino - 11;
Yea I know 11/10 makes no sense but I don't care Ai is beyond a masterpiece of a character. The main reason I love this character is a massive spoiler from episode 1 and ill explain that later but another reason is that I actually connect to Ai a lot which I wont explain that much but the "lies are the best form of love" thing that was happening is something I get a lot
Aquamarine Hoshino (and previous incarnation) - 10;
I have seen some people say that Aqua is like Light Yagami but that's not true. Aqua stays a good character throughout. At the beginning he may have just been an otaku doctor but because of that he is incredibly smart but also not immature and also just likeable as in the later episodes you can see that he clearly cares about ruby and the others and just an amazing character in general
Kana Arima - 10;
"Oh another one who likes the tsundere how original" and yea I was kinda disgusted at myself at first but I realized why, first she felt the most real character probably the only one in the main cast I would be friends with in real life and instead of being some supper star or some popular YouTuber she is just a person who did do a little acting in the beginning but who fell of later. And also the later episode where she had a full arc now that was good stuff in short an amazing character with a great arc at the end.
Akane Kurokawa - 9.5;
Just like Ai the main reason I like her is one single moment that being the end of episode 7 but the character not including that is like an 8 she just doesn't have enough screen time to show the audience her character unlike the others of the main cast
Ruby Hoshino (and previous incarnation) - 9;
Ruby is a great character but except for the first episode it feels like she doesn't have enough time like Akane and after episode 1 she is just the normal dumb energetic girl which in my opinion is a good character archetype but I just wanted more like in the first episode but I will talk about why that episode is amazing later
Mem-Cho - 8;
Her idea as a character is great but just like Akane she didn't have enough screen time to show the audience her full character but unlike Akane and Ruby there was no moment that was just amazing its just a nice character
Others - 9;
If we considered the side characters in the same fashion as the main characters they would be an 8 but they aren't suppose to outshine them they re just to make the world feel bigger. Some highlights are Miyako Saitou the only side character that can stand with most of the main cast, Taishi Gotanda which is also great but I honestly can't put my flinger on it, and Ryousuke because of episode 1.
Art - 10:
Art is the difference between an anime or manga to a light novel, art has to be used in a way that just screams "this is art" as the audience is gonna look at it the entire time while watching so it has to be great otherwise the anime becomes a flop (and also I'm not gonna discus adaptation because I haven't read the manga yet so yea) and Oshi no ko nails the art especially in the eyes so lets talk about it
Eyes - 10.5;
Yea 10.5/10 also makes no sense but lets just give it to an anime who was the first one (to my knowledge) to do something special with the eyes like instead of being boring like most other amines this anime makes the eyes feel so vibrant especially the Hoshinos with the stars and they also have some hidden meaning which would take too long so just watch this to learn more about that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjCYYosA3js (there are not only spoilers for the anime but also for the manga that the anime hasn't gotten to yet in that video)
Ost - 9.5:
The Ost is great especially the op and ed but the in-between Ost is also great and can we just talk about how that one song is just called "my idol is pregnant" but lets continue in the thing I listened to the Ost the people in the comments loved the Ost as well but lets talk about the op and ed
Op - 10;
The Op is amazing I personally put in in my top 10 playlist and it also has so many hidden meaning that when I was looking for a video that was talking about it I got spoiled about the later part of Oshi no ko so look at it for yourself its just amazing and also it got a full official animated version an an official English version also Idol was able to get to number 1 in the world the first song from Japan to be able to do that
Ed - 9.5;
The Ed f it was an opening would be a 8.5 but its an ed most animes just put a small track and have some simplistic animation but this is just an legit song that feels more like an opening and also the final episode it had a full version
Dialog - 8.5:
The dialog is probably the worst part of the anime but its still great there wasn't really any line that was just bafflingly bad but honest disappointing coming from the author of Kaguya-sama which has amazing dialog but that's for another time there aren't any highlights there is just the rues of great dialog being done well but nothing outstanding
Other :
This section is just anything else I want to say before I get into the spoilers so yea
Commitment ;
In the anime you can just feel how much effort everyone in the team put into this for example something I touched on earlier was that YOASOBI made a fully animated music video of Idol and also the creators made the first episode was a feature length movie and it did really feel like it was a movie
Ending ;
The ending was handled perfectly like it was an anime original series with the sense of closer but also seeing what is next just perfect
Things that people may not like ;
There are a few things first like I somewhat touched on the only think I didn't really like was time management between the main cast Aqua, Kana, and Ai feel fleshed out but the rest of the main cast feel like they don't have enough time to fully flesh out their character and that's my only complaint about it but there is a few things that other people may not like for example episode 1 the anime says lolicon twice and also a few other lines that have a bit of that on episode that but this is the same person who wrote a rom-com and its also surprisingly slice of live which I enjoy but I know some don't and also that they talk about sister complexes which also was in Kaguya-sama which is kinda weird and that's about it
Story - 10.5:
This is where I start saying massive spoilers because I kinda have to say a few spoilers to talk about the story so if you haven't watched Oshi no ko yet do its the type of anime that you will either love, like a lot, or hate because it beet your favorite anime looking at AOT fans right now like could I just say it was at 9.33 but then is now bellow a 9 which is just a tragedy but I'm rambling so yea I'm serious here is the actually spoilers
I'm telling you watch Oshi no ko first
I'm warning you don't get spoiled
I'll give you one more chance
Alright here it goes
Episode 1;
Episode 1 of Oshi no ko is like nothing else it starts with a story about a doctor connecting with one of his patents over an idol called Ai Hoshino which is incredibly touching but also sad when she dies due to cancer. After awhile Ai Hoshino herself come it and is pregnant with twin and now Gorou (the doctor) has to deliver the baby of his idol seems "standard" enough right? well then Gorou dies to a stalker that knew Ai was pregnant on the day of delivery and then is reincarnated as Ai's child along with another girl Ruby which he figures out is the same girl who died to cancer all those years ago and now he is the child of his idol but the story doesn't end there! after awhile Ai starts to be able to get jobs and even Aqua (the doctors new name) is able to get a job in an acting thing where he meets Kana a spoiled child actor ho cries when she doesn't do better then Aqua in rehearsal then Ai starts to become truly famous and then Ai wants to have the kids meet with their father so she calls him and then there are a bunch of flashbacks of her saying that i cant be an idol because I don't know how to love and then the stalker from earlier is at the door and kills Ai but before she dies she guilt trips him to kill himself but also she is final able to say I love you truthfully to her kids before she dies and now both ruby and aqua are in high school and they say goodbye mom to a photo graph of Ai Hoshino before going to their first day
This is just a perfect "episode" and I didn't say everything for example I didn't take about Ai teaching ruby, a girl who was in a bed most of her life her previous incarnation, how to dance with is just so sweet and also the last scene being incredible now you see why I put an 11/10 for Ai
Other episodes ;
To be honest until episode 7 it doesn't get as good as the first episode its still 10/10 material but its not as good, and then after a online scandal with Akane happen she tries to be what Aqua likes and he says that's impossible to be just like Ai Hoshino was (because he was an otaku in his previous life) so she words hard and not only i able to impress Aqua but also get the star eyes. Then after that Ruby want to make an idol group and Mem-Cho and Kana join as well and there is a whole arc with Kana not felling like she deserves to be center but after encouragement from Ruby she is able to be confident in herself which is also incredible and Aqua also helps by being the only one shining her color and giving her a pep talk the other day and then it ends with Aqua, Akane, and Kana all being in a stage play where in the story both of the girls are a love interest to Aqua
In short the story of Oshi no ko is 2 masterpieces of stories put into one seamlessly
Conclusion :
Oshi no ko is one of the best animes this season if not ever with every part except dialog being top tier and the dialog not being half bad so go give Oshi no ko a watch and it may become your new favorite anime as so many others in the anime community has and also don't wait read the manga once you're done don't be stupid and get spoiled like I did and also this was my first ever review so yea that's it
