Important stuff before review:

1) If you don't know, the author of this manga is the same of Soul Eater, so expect a similar character design. (I didn't read ou watch Soul Eater so I can't say if they are similar)

Now the Review:

Story - 6

... This is the typical bad appellative shounen (in good portuguese: típico shounen ruim apelão). What I mean with this? I mean it is full of all cliches that we are used to read in a shounen:

#Orphan boy - check

#Rivalry between friends since always - check

#Evil brother - check

#Girl that gets naked all the time without explanation - check

#All the hero piffle, and "friendship is important", and "keep promises", "I want to be a... Hokage/Wizard King/Best Exorcist stuff (in this one is actually hero or knight-king)" - check

But this is my impression of the beginning of the story, after reading almost all chapters out, I can say that it gets better and we are developing a real plot by now. The author didn't explain everything, but it is getting thick.

The story is strange, because "people get burned out of nowhere" and the people who help them, the firefighters, actually use fire to "save them". This resembles Fahrenheit 451 a lot (the firefighters put books on fire).

In the beginning, the fire powers are just normal. But then it start to appear a lot of powers that doesn't make sense, the author manages to put time-travel in relation with fire (so, it is kind of WTF). But you just get it, because just normal fire would get dull eventually (*ironic*).

About the story, you get a lot of fights -> main guy improving/training -> more fights -> a few relax chapters (with fan service probably) -> more fights and getting new allies/friends -> increasing the harem -> a few mysteries -> more fights...

Art - 8

Art is nice, it is strange, but it is good. No complaints. There is a lot of bizarre and creepy faces. When it needs to be detailed, it is.

Character - 7

I already said above we have the typical shounen troupes - people with dark pasts, villains that we don't understand at all (but I hope we will someday). The characters are not really developed, but in a shounen, who cares? If you want to see a lot of fights with a lot of ass-pull, this is for you.

Ok, now serious. We at least get to see the past of all the main ones (the 8th brigade), everybody act consistently. I don't have complaints (they are cliche, but we already expected that)

Enjoyment - 7

This story is good to get some fun, see/read some good fights, and usually fast ones (points to the author for not dragging the fights too much), relax, and even laugh a lot in some hilarious chapters, but don't expect the best manga of your life.

I decided to write this review because all other people that wrote the reviews here haven't finished the manga....

So first I need to say that I watched both seasons of the anime, and after that I decided to read the manga (started on chapter 134 until 210 and then read the 5 omakes that come after)

I will be sincere, the story starts slow, but after a while it gets really good.
The second main arc (with Hagoromo Gitsune) is the best for me... after that the manga gets a little bit slow again, but then it get's better, SO DON'T GIVE UP

The manga got axed by ... Jump, which is not a novelty (Jump does that with most mangas =//), so we have the final battle in a differente magazine (~60 pages per chapter and coloured pages!!) - that's a plus. And 5 omakes in the end that explain some stuff that didn't get explanation before...

So, even though it got axed, we still got a good story with a nice end.

I recommend everyone that like shounen in the style of KHR, Ao No Exorcist, Noragami to take a look at this manga.

The art style is great! The author draws really well, love the art style.

The story is quite nice about youkais and different kind of powers. Also, it talks about gods and myths in Japan, which is a plus for me.

I am a girl, and even though this a shounen, for me matters a lot if there are strong girls as characters, and there are!! So another plus!

This is my second review, so don't expect too much =)

This is the second shoujo I watched...after dropping Kaichou wa Maid-Sama! I decided to try another shoujo to see if I really have a problem with shoujo anime, and I think yes, I don't like shoujo animes.

Itazura na Kiss is really funny and I was marathoning it, until something happens in ep 14 and I was like WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?!?!? It was way to fast and I didn't see it coming. After this I decided to watch one more episode and then even though it was still funny I was like "I don't ... care for what is happening from now on" so I dropped AGAIN.

The thing is I don't like the male-lead character (He is too perfect, and too boring), so I wanted Kotoko to stay with any other guy that liked her instead of Irie. I was expecting her to grow up and change her behaviour. But forget it, you are not goint to see any kind of development in her and his character. It is just ridiculous.

This anime is based in a manga written in 1990, so a lot of concepts about relationships changed since the manga was written. And I understand it, but it was unbearable to me (because Kotoko was so dependent of Irie and she didn't have any creative ideas on her own, she is just following him around...). So I dropped in ep 15 and I don't regret.

My grade is 6 because I enjoyed the ending song hahah and because first episodes were really nice/funny and I had hope that the story was going to develop to something better.

This is my first review here on MAL, so I don't know if it is going to be good (and I am not native English speaker...)

I need to say that Kaichou wa Maid-Sama! is the first shoujo I watched (I think Sakura Card-Captors doesn't count because I was a kid...), so I had really high hopes about it.

I was enjoying the story a lot in the first episodes - it was really funny and entertaining. But after a while it became repetitive (and I didn't laugh anymore...). And after this I was angry with Usui, cause he is such a stalker and the anime wants ... to sell the image that it is nice to be a stalker, that girls like stalkers. Usui is not a nice person, he is sick! I hate that! I want a shoujo with a strong female lead that can overcome her problems without the help of the most handsome guy in the school.

So all this factors made me drop this anime on episode 20. I think if the story was one cour, it would be perfect, but 26 eps of the same stuff, I just can't!

My grade is 6 because I really enjoyed the first episodes (opening is not awesome, it is just ok/ the animation is not one of the best, but I don't think this is so important for this story)
