Ah Kobato...

If you look at my anime list, you will notice that Im very picky when it comes to rating. And seldomly do I ever give away a full 10 points. The only anime so far on my list that has gotten a full 10 points is Clannad. I praised it holy and as a milestone in my anime watching career.

And now! The time has come to gift a new wonderfull anime 10 points, and oh shall we prais its presence next to Clannad at the top of my ranking.

This anime... I rated it as a 10 - Masterpiece because if there is one word ... id choose to describe it, it would be: Beatiful.

Its perfectly balanced story wise and very enjoyable to watch. The characters are all lovable and unique. Everything about this anime, from the story to the music is just plain beatiful.
One thing I realy love is the art. A big plus point is the way the faces are drawn, they are somewhat unique and new, but very nice to look at. You will probaly fall in love with this style after the first episode. And Kobato's dresses are also very adorable to look at.
The story is very flat and easy to follow, alltho this anime will surley make you heart soft and bring forward a couple tears, its overall enjoyment is outstanding. You laugh, you cry, and then you cry again because it makes you so happy. Clannad had thies elements, but compared to Clannad, Kobato is easier to watch and lighter hearted.

Now there is something I want to share with all of you. I am a big fan of Chobits, a former anime also made by Clamp. And when you watch this anime and you are familiar with Chobits, you will notice some things that will realy give you a pleasent supprise content wise. Im going to list thies little easter eggs here because they realy made my heart go "awww isnt this awsome".

- The resedent that Kaboto stays at, is the exact same one from chobits, the twin sisters are the Chobit sisters (chi and her sister) and the resedent owner is the wife of the creater of the chobit series, who is also the mother to them.

- The bakery that Kaboto works at every once in a while is named "Tirol" and the shop owner and his assistant are the same ones out of Chobits.

I think there was 1 or 2 more but I cant think of them atm. But basicly thies characters out of the Chobits anime are in Kaboto's world in a Human state, basicly like everything should have been. At least thats my impression and gave this anime an extra flavor that I truly loved.

Its hard to put all the emotions and beaty of this anime in to words, im not even going to try very hard because I dont want to screw anything up and leave a odd impression.

So to all you comedy, drama, romance genre fans out there! Kobato is defently a MUST WATCH anime. And when you watch it, I hope you love it as much as I do. It defently earned thos 10 points.

So... I suppose ill let out a "wohoo" due to this being my first review. I finaly decided to write one because I want to give out a WARNING to everyone planning to watch this.

Story [7/10]:

Even tho I disliked the anime, how it evolved and the overall story. I can say that this anime has a decent and unique story.
A nice thing about it, is the way it starts. Not in many animes will you have the lead female character build up a romantic relationship with the lead male character from the very first episode. Another positiv aspect, is the idea ... behind the girl as super weapon thingy, also where this fact doesnt harm the actual relationship/feelings between the lead characters.
So that was pretty enjoyable.
But sad to say, I would of wished so much more. There are many animes out there that have a good story and good potential to become something epic. But so often does it fail todo so.
Same here...
But dont get me wrong, the way it was made is nice, its not one of thos cheap, slimy, ugly storys where you facepalm yourself for something being out of line or plain stupid.


Art [7/10]:

Now the art takes getting used too, or better said the way the character faces are drawn. After watching about 4-5 episodes I started to love with this drawing style, its sorta unique in its own way but then again not very pretty...
The overall art and drawing of everything non character based was good.


Sound [6/10]:

Hmm.. sound... I suppose you could say the music was decent but nothing id put on my MP3 player, none of the music was catchy or something you would like to listen too, I normaly skiped the intro and ending.
Now the music actualy playing in the anime, was pretty much non existant? There was some music in most important parts, but sometimes where you think they could add some nice music, there would be nothing... just complete silence...


Character [4/10]:

Haha, this is easy, FAIL.
Or lets say that the lead characters started to fail after half of the show...
The couple semi important character where allright, nothing to fancy, but mostly to unimportant. Alltho none of the characters where unique in anyway, maby the lead female character, but the rest you could probaly find in every second anime below the MyAnimeList rank 500.


Enjoyment [3/10]:

This is probaly the most annoying combined with painfull anime to watch. I dont mind good drama animes like Clannad, Shuffle! or Kanon. But this right here just makes me want to take a baseball bat to my monitor...
Up to episode 4-5, you could say its enjoyable, but after that it starts failing in almost every aspect.


Overall [6/10]:

Saikano is a... pain and emotional rollercoaster to watch. To tell you the truth, after episode 10 I just quick clicked threw the last 3 to see how it ends.
Now im a fan of happy endings, or actualy happy love endings, I suppose you could say that Saikano has a happy love ending - but one that is so screwed up and worthless that you cant real enjoy it.
As I watched Saikano, I built a up a nice relationship with to the two lead characters. I was fond of the love bond between them and thought they could overcome everything. This is where my emotions started taking a dump and I started getting realy disapointed.
I began to hate both characters around half of the show, the constant semi/half cheating eachother realy made me go "WTF" at least one time every episode, the thing that bugged me the most, is that the main characters wouldnt care and still went all "I love you so much" on eachother.
Another reson I realy hated the main male character was because he made me think that at a point he would do something like this: "Hey, hes gonna be a man now and help out his girlfriend as much as he can, love her and support her with all her troubles".
But guess what. IT DIDNT HAPPEN.
That pussy just stayed safe at home and kept whining to himself that he cant do anything. Only thing that went threw my mind was "no shit dipshit, if you dont get off your ass you cant change anything".

So as my last words, all I can say is, if your looking for good action, a super cool human weapon, dont bother watching, because this anime is focused on romantic more than action.
And if your looking for a good romantic anime, dont bother, its disapointing.
And last, if your looking for a good drama anime, then you might be happy with it, alltho there might be some aspects of disapointment in the very end... but untill then it could be enjoyable for ya.

So Have fun watching this, im happy its over and dont have to rewatch it.
