This review contains a small spoiler, if you read it, read it at your own risk.
I don't know what the hell this isekai has that gives me so much inner peace, I love the setting and the slice of life type characters, although it was full of ups and downs at the beginning, the most remarkable thing here would be the realistic environment (there are not many isekai or animes like that) there is also the adequate development of the characters due to their slow development, their illustrations are also very good.
The soundtrack is exquisite and the daring comedy but with just sentimentality leaves you
...
with a taste of enjoying how the characters interact
Once you understand the concept of anime, it becomes more predictable, but it doesn't detract from how entertaining it becomes after getting into the rhythm.
There are several points that need to be improved (to consider it a remarkable anime), but it is worth seeing when it comes to unconventional isekais.
The only thing that maybe I did not like, and it is because of nonsense on my part, it would be that they concentrated more than normal on Magato's death and practically all the anime revolved around that, but that was what made the characters will grow so it's fine, I just found the constant mention of the death of that character a bit strange.
Personally speaking, it wasn't bad anime, and it wasn't very good (comparatively), but it was good for a change of air.

An animated adaptation of the manga "Vinland Saga" set in medieval Scandinavia, based on the original by Yukimura Makoto, known for "Planetes". I haven't read the original work yet, but from what little I saw I know it's a masterpiece, so turning it into an anime is a big obstacle to overcome. Normally I would have mixed feelings of anticipation and anxiety, but I wasn't that worried about this work. The reason for this is because the production company, WIT studio, has produced a lot of high quality work. A good production company creates a masterpiece in the world of manga. That alone was reason
...
enough to see it.
When I saw it, I thought it was a great anime that more than adequately captured the goodness of the original work, and I can't complain about that, in my opinion.
Well, nothing, I'd like to talk about action and art. The beauty of the world is very important in this anime, as was made clear in Canute's Awakening. This anime does a great job of clarifying that. And as for the action, WIT STUDIO does a great job showing us the close combat with Thorfinn's dagger in his signature action. The beauty and movement of the action is what makes this game so perfect.
As mentioned above, this piece is a great anime adaptation of a masterpiece. As the script of the last episode says, what is represented in this play is the prologue. This is where the story of Thorfinn's life and the story of the "Saga of Vinland" begins to unfold. But that will have to wait for the second season, which will be produced in the future. So, thank you, NHK and the staff, for your work.

Indeed, this is an INCREDIBLE manga: it makes you look away from its pages, transporting you to France in the 18th century, the heavy, psychological and in some cases strangely sweet plot, which plays with your feelings and complex characters and in the In the case of the protagonists (and some others) you become so fond that you only have to fear if they are going to die or not and if at least it will be in a pious way.
I must begin by saying that the drawing is extremely impressive, everything has a detail that is amazing and when I say everything, I mean
...
even the most minute and small that there can be, it shows a lot the ability of the author (and his assistants) to make very delicate and fine that give a very particular weight to the expressions of the characters and the situations that arise.
Undoubtedly, the protagonist, being part of a family with an extremely particular tradition, such as that of being generation after generation in charge of administering justice applying the death penalty to those who break the law, is something very heavy to bear, not only for the emotional and psychological burden that implies if not also for the repudiation and contempt that society has towards them when they are seen as a sign of bad omen.
It will not be easy to advance along the path that has been imposed on you just because you were born into this family. From the beginning, it is predicted that its history will be very stormy and full of many obstacles to overcome, since at no time will it have a break.
So many things happen that you manage to empathize with the protagonist and understand the despair and the mixed feelings when having to face this bloody fate, the stages that have to be overcome and the surprises that are being found. You really can't stop thinking every moment that the poor thing deserved better luck.
Of course, there are certain situations that have caught me completely off guard, not only for the moment they represent but also because the drawing seems to me to transmit a wide variety of emotions that reinforce them, moments of despair, amazement, disbelief, relief. ..and obviously, the very unique way of life of Parisians in the pre-revolution era.
And the end, being how the events have happened, could not end in a less dramatic way, with a fast-paced rhythm at an important moment for the protagonist, giving rise to the continuation about the crimson revolution.
It is worth mentioning that this story is based on historical data of the character but with some adjustments, which is interesting and an incentive for curiosity to prompt you to read about the lives of Charles-Henri Sanson and Marie Joseph Sanson, although I have to mention that I feel that it is a story not so easy to recommend, however a point in its favor is the fact that it is a manga with a historical basis, not as common as many other stories and with an impressive drawing, so for the same it deserves a opportunity and if it is not to your liking, at least you will have tried to read something different.

I just finished reading it, but it was better not to finish... nasty final fuck
This will be short and brief, that ending was horrific. Multiple things were never investigated. He wanted to know more about Ryuu's past, I think he would develop it further. Instead, he presents himself as a complete idiot and a filthy man. The women in this practically adore him. Maybe this is how NON wanted it to be, that's fine and all, but there should have been a bit more depth to the characters. There was a bit of Madoka but not much (and this manga made me hate his character).
...
He really hoped Koharu would find his own independence and grow (and be happy) but no. She is just a baby maker for Ryuu. Ew. Ew at all hahaha I'm so salty about it!

Symbolism or whatever you want to call it. These manga speak volumes behind their images of what is happening and what could have happened. The boy might have ignored her, but he didn't; The girl could have been more sincere, but she didn't; The boy could have committed suicide, but he made the decision to hit his attackers, etc. Now to understand it in a simple way, The boy in the 1st chapter caught a USB memory, the girl, even though she was close to the sea, never caught anything. Can you imagine these two protagonists in a different setting? They could have been kissing
...
at the seashore like two young men who met each other
(symbolically they appear at the end). But the setting is different, the seaside or adolescence is not the same for everyone, some are lucky to find something soon, others go round and round to get out of this complicated shore. Works that call for reflection and leave you that sour taste because they appeal to your circumstances as a person that led you to act in such a way.
PS: The first impression I had of the girl was "wtf this ugly", I thought it was a bit mediocre for art, but then I saw the backgrounds and knew it was part of the symbolism of the character's development, they noticed that every time the chapters the girl was prettier? ... that certainly is something I had not seen in another manga, or I do not remember, having done that on purpose to symbolize the beauty of a character while you develop it, gives an extra point to my opinion.
