Very similar feel of summertime and a group of friends with plenty of tear jerking action. In both shows there is a unique main female lead and very relatable main characters. Both include relationship drama and love triangle/squares. The art style is also similar. Overall they two shows just feel very similar in many different ways.

If you liked Kanon (2006) add

...then you might like Clannad add

Both based off of Key visual novels. Both have that visual novel feel where they have character arcs. The arcs tend to be dramatic and sad but there is still room for humor in both of the shows. If Clannad didn't have After Story, these two shows would be eerily similar.

Same writer. Both are about futuristic gaming and a connection between the real world and gaming world.

If you liked Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu add

...then you might like Steins;Gate add

The plot lines are extremely similar because they follow a lone protagonist struggling through alternate or distorted timelines. Both shows do a great job of portraying the main character's thoughts feelings as they experience this dilemma. Both are brilliant pieces of work and should be watched not only be fans of Steins Gate and Haruhi Suzumiya, but by any fan of anime in general.
