Both series share a similar art style in the sense that everything looks sturdy and heavily outlined, and both are sausage fests with casts mostly made up of male characters. Both series make you root for the protagonists as they are thrown into despair and struggle through impossible situations, with the high points of each show feeling exhilarating, and the lows feeling like bottomless pits. I think both Kaiji and Rainbow share the same feeling of tension and high stakes which is why I recommend them.

Sakamoto desu ga?
add

A new member joins a class and over the course of the show, changes the dynamic entirely. That is the premise of both anime. The main characters of GTO and Sakamoto desu ga? are very similar in their actions and the effects that they have on their classmates and students. They help people with their problems in a comedic and dramatic way, forever changing the lives of the people around them. They turn their enemies into friends and have a knack for swaying people to their sides. The comedy in both anime are two sides of the same coin. The humour in Sakamoto desu ga? is found in the fact that Sakamoto is an unattainable level of cool, and that he turns even the stupidest things into favourable situations for himself. GTO, on the other hand, finds its comedy in Onizuka, who, although very cool in his own way, often ends up making a fool of himself and finding himself as the butt of his own jokes. With similarities in the characters, setting, and even the way their stories unfold, I'm sure if you like one you may well like the other.

This recommendation is for viewers who enjoy the normalization of homosexual relationships that both of these shows bring to the table. Both series have characters that are in a believable romance that doesn't seem forced, and both partners of each romance grow and learn from their respective relationships in a healthy and satisfying way. Both series are about more than just "gay characters"; they are about "a normal series with a plot that can stand on its own without the crutch of 'gay baiting', but there are also characters who just happen to be gay." And while the overall story of these two series are about as different as one could get, there remains a very tangible sense of "heart" throughout both series, which is why I recommend them.

Blue Seed

Blue Seed and Inuyasha are VERY similar, and I've even heard that Inuyasha was based on Blue Seed, though I haven't verified this. For starters, the characters in each show have their counterparts in the other, like Inuyasha is Kusanagi's counterpart and Momiji is Kagome's. The parallels between the two series are easily visible, from characters to plot points to setting. Inuyasha takes place in Japan's feudal era, and Blue Seed is centered around ancient Japan. In both series the characters fight demons. They each have different and valuable lessons to be learned from watching them, so I recommend you check both out.

Kuragehime

There are quirky and unique characters all grouped together, going about their wacky everyday lives, with just a hint of romance. Kuragehime has a bit more of a story to it, but they are both very similar.
