Similarities: school life, girl being protected by a boy who falls for her. Both tomoe and shin are violent and wild, but they are gentle and protective toward their loved ones. Differences: no supernatural elements in gokusen. (Maybe except fuji)

The shin reminds me of usui. They both smart and good loking. Shin is a bit more violent. He falls almost instantly for kumiko, and tries to protect her in every way. Also both girls are strong and independent. The romance is not spelled out like in maid sama, but it's there.

Watching it is like watching inuyasha and maid sama! combined. The main characters are very similar, Tomoe is a powerful demon who is bound - reluctantly - to serve and protect Nanami, a high school girl. The romance is funny, cute and heartbreaking at the same time, the storyline and the animation is superb.

I have searched for a long time for a romantic anime as good as maid sama, but was unsuccesful till I found Kamisama Hajimemashita. Nanami loses her home and forced to live in a shinto shrine with Tomoe, a powerful demon who now has to protect her, and he is not at all happy about it. In addition, Nanami also meets Mizuki and Kurama who both fall for her.
