Very rarely do I give a perfect score to anything but this series most definitely deserves these honors. It has been a while since I have seen an anime series that was as well done as this one. I am of course perfectly aware that this series comes from the manga on which it is based, but here I think that they probably did one of the best jobs I've ever seen as far as bringing it to life via animation.
The story is of course incredible. While it is short I truly enjoyed ever episode. It kept me interested and entertained
...
while telling a very compelling story. The story is of course one where the main character must discover himself and his purpose in a world in which he knows nothing about, but soon finds out more than he ever thought possible. This is a story of discovery and re-birth for our main character.
The art is movie quality or better. Very rarely do you see this quality of animation and art in a TV anime. I was to say the least drawn in by the quality of the art and the animation. You can definitely tell that a lot of time and effort was put into bringing this series to life.
The sound is just as good as the animation. Movie quality or better.
Our main character Ledo has a lot of growing to do over 13 episodes and the story comes around that growth quite well. Ledo is thrust into a world that he can not understand let alone comprehend. Ledo is a soldier and always has been. So when he finds himself in a strange world where those qualities aren't necessarily needed and are most times frowned upon he has to grow beyond his "purpose" and find a his place in his new home.
Overall I really enjoyed this anime. I really wish there was more to the story as I really fell in love with this story and it's characters. But with that aside I don't feel let down by the way it ended. It was a good ending and an appropriate one for the story. I am currently re-watching the series.

SO THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN A WARNING AT THE END! THERE IS NO SPOILER BUT I FEEL COMPELLED TO WARN FUTURE READERS ABOUT THIS MANIWA.
So I started this one on a whim and was instantly pulled in. However, I will say had I done my due diligence on this work before I started reading it I probably never would have started to begin with.
As far as the story goes I haven't been able to see much better. This is definitely a great work as far as the story goes. It has depth, humor, sorrow and is pretty much the whole package.
The
...
artwork is second to none. I love how clean everything is no matter what is being shown on the page.
Character development is also second to none. I love how the characters in the story evolve and grow as the story progresses.
Is this enjoyable? Yes it was, until I got to chapter 75 that is.
So why am I saying such great things about this Maniwa and end up giving it a poor overall rating of 3. Well here comes the warning!
THE WORK IS INCOMPLETE TO A DEGREE THAT IT IS AN ABSOLUTE TRAVESTY! Some time about 4 year ago the author, Dal Young Im if I'm not mistaken, walked away from this story and never returned. Apparently this was around the same time that he started working on the FREEZING series. So he basically lost interest in this series and started another one and NEVER finished this one. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS!
As far as I can tell, the story itself seems to be about 2/3 to 3/4 complete. There may have been more but at this point it's anybody's guess. Unfortunately like I said earlier if I had done my due diligence and seen that the author had a bad habit about leaving his works half finished then I would never have read this one.
I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS! I WANT TO SEE THE END! AND UNFORTUNATELY AFTER 4 LONG YEARS I DOUBT THERE IS ANY POSSIBILITY THAT THIS WILL EVER HAPPEN. SOME PEOPLE THINK THAT AFTER THE "FREEZING" SERIES IS COMPLETED HE WILL COME BACK TO THIS WORK. BUT AFTER A 4 YEAR HIATUS I JUST DON'T SEE THAT HAPPENING.
SO HERE IS MY WARNING. IF YOU ARE LIKE ME AND CAN NOT STAND TO START A STORY AND BE ABLE FINISH IT THEN THIS MANIWA IS NOT FOR YOU. IF YOU DON'T CARE ANYTHING ABOUT THAT TYPE OF STUFF THEN FEEL FREE TO ENJOY THIS STORY, RIGHT UP UNTIL YOU HIT THE INVISIBLE WALL WAITING FOR YOU AT CHAPTER 75!
**SPOILER ALERT**
So I did do some messing around on the internet and managed to find out how the light novel ended and I have to say WTF! It ended terribly! The bastard author obviously wanted to make sure he would never have to do anything else related to this title so he gave it a scorch the world type ending. Just pisses me off to see a work with so much entertainment potential get flushed down the crapper with a nuke the world and kill everyone ending. I will never read anything by this author again because this appears to be a habit of his. What a waste of a good story and great characters. Wow! Wow!

So first of all if you have not watched the original Utawarerumono anime you probably need to do that first or else there will be points in this story that you will definitely find yourself lost because this is a continuation of the original Utawarerumono story line.
I found this anime quite a bit more enjoyable than the first. You get more in depth with the characters and the tone is much lighter that in the original anime. I do like how well the story progressed through each and every character ultimately building to the conclusion which in itself is another beginning.
Most
...
of the anime has a light feel to it, although it doesn't skip a more serious tone hear and there the largest of which comes at the conclusion. The animation is nice and clean and the sound and everything else is crisp. Overall it is an anime that I would definitely purchase should it be released here.
The one thing that did bug me about this anime is the ending of which there was none. I'm not going to spoil anything for you but in case you didn't know the entire Utawarerumono series is based off of a popular game franchise in Japan and so the anime ends right where the game ends essencially. So see no spoiler if you've played the game because you already know what is going to happen.
This anime seems to have been made as a tool to boost interest and promote the new game coming out this September which if I'm not mistaken is "Utawarerumono: The Two Hakuro". Now here is the rub, will there be a concrete ending this time or will this ultimately lead us into another game after a third anime release. The thing is I have no idea and I don't think anyone else does either. The only thing that I do know from the preview of the new game is that it will seem to have a far more serious tone as Tusukuru and Yamato seem to be headed towards full scale war.
So with that said hopefully there will be a third anime sometime in 2017 that will lead us further down the rabbit hole into the world Utawarerumono. At least I hope that there is because it sure has been fun so far.

This anime was a very hard pill to swallow. It was done tremendously well. Animation, sound and music are all top notch. But in it's story it is also deceptive. At the onset you get this really warm fuzzy feeling that this is going to be one of those stories that lifts the characters up and you with them. And then you get to the end and well... you'll have to watch to find out. I only made it through the first 10 episodes before I skipped to the last one. I know that that is a very
...
bad thing to do but the plot, to me, was so evidently clear and I had to skip to the end to confirm my suspicions which I found to be 100% on the money. Don't get me wrong, it is a great story, but one that I just couldn't keep watching because well again... you'll know when you watch it. Have tissue handy. You're going to need it.

This is just a great anime that is good for just some good old fashioned watching. The artwork is awesome and so are the characters. The plot is always moving around from one side of the story to the other, and oh ya, it has vampires in it which makes it all the more fun to watch. There is never a dull moment with this anime so I would definately recommend it to anyone over 18. Other than that, enjoy.

First off, I didn't know what to think of this show since it takes you straight into everything so they are playing a bit of catch up from the start. But don't worry that only feeds the stroy. The characters are great and so is the story. And then there is the supernatural aspect which is somewhat out of the norm. I would go into more detail but some people might consider that a spoiler so I wont. But in short this story is extremely enjoyable to watch many times over. Sure there are some sad parts in this

one, but hey, it is a far cry from the screaming and fighting that so many other anime that have come before this one. It is extremely refreshing. I will say one thing about the last episode, you must watch it all the way through and that includes watching it past the credits. If you don't you will miss something that you will definately want to see. I would definately recommend this anime to anyone. Hope that this review helps you.

This anime from the start gets interesting and stays interesting. You will fall in love with everyone in the story. I just can't tell you enough good things about this anime. If you do choose to watch this anime, then you must watch Clannad After Story. I do wish however they would do a sequel to Clannad After Story. I think that it would be a great addition to see what happens to the characters about 10 years from then end of After Story.

WARNING! COULD CONTAIN SPOILERS!!! First off, I will have to say that this anime is not for the faint of heart. Secondly let me establish one thing, I am a guy and I cried like a little baby when I first saw this. This has to be the most grounded and down to earth animes that I have ever seen. It tells a story that can actually happen in life, so it can really hit home when you watch it. Now I have read a lot of reviews for this anime, mainly of people talking about how they hated
...
the ending, but I have to disagree. This story holds a very important message in it. Cherish the people that you love in life, because they can be taken away from you at any point in time. What happens to Nagisa is tragic, and what Tomoya does as a result is more than understandable. He put his hopes and dreams behind her and then fate intervenes and Tomoyo is crushed. Nagisa was everything to Tomoya, she was his life. Like I said, what happens in the story is something that can and actually does happen in real life. Now what happens to Ushio is equally tragic. Tomoya now has Ushio living with him and has recovered emotionally. He devotes himself fully to Ushio. But again, these things happen in real life, so the fact that you can relate will pull and tug on your emotions until you feel the lump in your throat is about to burst. But thankfully, time is reversed and Tomoya and Ushio are found to be fine. Tomoya is given a second chance, but still retains the memories of the tragedies from the alternate reality that he once lived. If anyone deserved a second chance, it is Tomoya. I couldn’t even imagine suffering the way Tomoya suffered, which is why I am glad that he got the second chance with his family. Like I said, this anime is not for the faint of heart, but if you want to see a truly great anime, then I would definitely recommend Clannad and Clannad After Story. It is truly a great work of art!
I do wish however that they would do a sequel that takes place about 10 years from the end of this series. I think that it would be a great story to see Ushio starting high school while Nagisa and Tomoya take the role that Aki and Sanae had in Clannad and Clannad After Story.
