This Precure series is more slapstick comedy than usual, so the feel and comedy of each is quite similar, along with the theme, genre, and animation. Balala did the ocean theme first, but Precure is the more well-known franchise. Precure focuses more on action and is more character-driven, while Balala has a more slice-of-life feel and is story-driven, though each has plenty of cute girls doing cute things!

It's undeniably obvious that Fruit Tart was inspired by Love Live. Their respective protagonists, Honoka and Niko are both extremely bubbly, naïve, and overenthusiastic protagonists surrounded by people with actually applicable talents, which makes for some fun group dynamics. Several other characters show similarities, but each has a different twist and backstory to make them unique. Both shows are idols, featuring a variety of fun dance performances, chirpy songs, fanservice, and cute girls doing cute things to promote and better themselves.

Each series has a very quirky, fun, colour-coded cast of cute girls who do cute things, but with a surprising amount of plot and actual twists you won't expect. Each show pokes fun at the way their real-world equivalent industries are received and are created, which makes it more enjoyable for adults than similar series. Neither one takes itself too seriously though, with plenty of parody-style jokes and in-series gags. Fruit Tart has significantly more fan service, while AHCF has much more magical girl style action scenes.

AKB0048 has a heavily sci-fi, post-apocalyptic series, leading to more action, while Lapis is set in a medieaval-fantasy high school, which lends itself to more slice of life stories.

LoveLive is entirely student/idol run, while Ongaku Shoujo has a studio involved.

Both include idol dress cards that are collected on the show and in real ife, as well as transformation sequences. Pripara is a lot more dramatic and over the top, while Aikatsu Friends is more laid back with relatable moments.
