Chi no Wadachi, or Blood on the Tracks, is a story that's honestly left me perplexed. When it came out, it was a solid 8/10 manga which I read regularly given how intriguing each chapter ended up being. However, over time I feel the story lost meaning and the pacing was not good enough especially considering the stellar start it had.

While the initial premise, and execution of the first 50-60 chapters was excellent, I felt the mangaka couldn't keep up the same consistency with the story-telling which made me eventually lose interest from chapter 100 or so. Having known (or not)

Usao-kun perfectly described this show as a bunch of hardcore sadists, masquerading as a kids' educational show.
Uramachi Oniisan is the perfect example of how life pans out after your 20s, where you lose enthusiasm in all aspects of life. It's a satire of the typical kids-oriented TV show, which more often than not shows the true face of the people behind their cheerful personas. Uramichi Oniisan is the lead, showing how his mental health has basically spiraled downwards despite being a gymnastics teacher on the kids show. Okay, so this Claymation is basically a spoof of renowned horror movies, but I feel the medium it uses to tell the story is quite creative.
Story: 6 I give the story a 6 just because its not the most original idea of course, but does enough to warrant a fair valuation. Art: 9 The art department I give a 9 because I can only imagine how long it takes to make something like this. There was clear effort put into making this gory and two characters have great art work. Sound: 3 Its a silent movie. But the silence adds to the horror aspect of the animation. ... |
