Unapologetic otaku bait. Mechs, fanservice, lesbian fanservice, and melodrama all around. I love it.
I'm glad I discovered this in 2020 having been really into Gundam Seed and Seed Destiny back in the day. It's basically Gundam Seed/Destiny but with neither the heavy-handed moralizing of the Gundam franchise nor the pretense that that the show should appeal to all demographics.
Cross Ange doesn't reinvent the wheel, but boy does it take you for a fun spin. Characters are compelling (you rarely feel "meh" about them), fights were nothing to write home about, and the hormonal drama is so thick you could drink it.
