I'm sorry to anyone who likes this show, this review of is this a Zombie? is certainly not directed to fans of the show, but Is this a Zombie might just be the worst anime I've ever watched in quite a while. But this is just my opinion, and I hope anyone who likes the show does not take my opinion on this anime too seriously.
First of all, I think this anime actually had a good premise at the beginning. I mean, after the silly first episode where we are given the background for our main hero, a zombie cross dressing magical boy, we are
...
than introduced to a Ninja Vampire Girl, and this Ninja Vampire Girl wants to fight our Zombie Cross Dressing Magical Boy. And they do!
At first I thought this would kind of be like a Weird Super Human fighting tournament where these weird characters fight each other and something about that is actually really original and creative. We see this Zombie Magical Boy use his Zombie state to gain an advantage in the fight such as severing his arm and using it as a projectile. It's things like this that show the shows true potential and really makes me wish it was better than it actually was.
And after that fight the show completely drops it's initial concept for a murder mystery that is really weak and ends like it was some kind of bad memory and than the final episodes are really bad. It's some kind of concert and there are some bad singing. I think the voice actors had some fun but I really don't think there was a lot fun left for the viewers.
I think Is this a Zombie was just not sure what it wanted to be, so at the end it copped out and did whatever it wanted.
I'm not sure what a lot of people see in this anime but for me it was a good concept gone sour. If you like this anime, I'm sure it was probably a lot of fun for you, but for me I'm sorry but I didn't like this anime. I liked the first few episodes but after that it gone down, down, down till I gave it a thumbs down.

I know people see Pokémon as a fad more than impressive video games and anime that was one of the best animated series of it's time.
It was more than a silly cartoon or an anime to advertise the video games. It was a good animated series that had a lot of heart and humor.
And I am specifically going to review the English translation from 4kids. I know 4kids had some negative controversy surrounding it, but this is before they had absolutely insane edits to their translations. Also I'm going to specifically review the first season of Pokémon since that's the one I only really watched.
I
...
really think that they did a pretty good job with the English dub of this anime. The humor added to the dub of the anime was actually really funny. In fact I would say this is one of the funniest anime I have seen. And while the English Dub of this anime I thought greatly added to the humor of the show, I feel even with out the jokes added in by the English dub, I would still feel like this anime had a lot of humor thanks to some of the funniest running gags I've seen. Such as Brock having a crush on every girl he encounters and everything Team Rocket ever does.
I think another thing that makes the anime great is the music which greatly sets the mood, this is one of my favorite anime soundtracks in existence. My absolute favorite is the more triumphed tracks like I got a Victory Badge. All the music in Pokémon is absolutely iconic in anime.
These tracks always plays at the end of an episode and it always leaves the viewer feeling warm and it's just a perfect way to end an episode.
Pokémon is just a really good kids anime and it's no wonder why it was so popular when it first came out and become a pop culture icon.
I would go as far as to say that the first season was the best animated series of it's time.
But it's not perfect, the status quo always had to be kept still and I know there are things are just wrong in context of the original video game but even so, Pokémon is just a really good and amazing anime. And the first season will always be my favorite season of Pokémon because of just how it just did everything in it's own way.
But at the same time I feel like Pokémon was kind of unambitious. It never does anything ground breaking. It just does its thing and than leaves. I really wish they did something more with Pokémon but as it stands Pokémon is just a really good anime that is extremely enjoyable.
I just think Pokémon has a lot of things to it. It has action, humor, drama, and a lot of other stuff.
If you are an anime fan and didn't watch the first season of Pokémon you are doing yourself a disfavor.

Real Account started out a real good Manga, I never used to read a lot of manga unless I've either stumble upon it, get it from the library or if I've heard a lot about it. Real Account was a manga I've stumbled upon, I'm really into these survival game type manga/anime and I saw Real Account being tagged as a Survival Game somewhere, and so I gave it a read.
And for a while I was really hooked on it, I checked for updates regularly on it while it was being released, was hoping to buy it officially in English once it was released, and
...
was even holding out hope for an anime adaptation.
But sadly I had to drop it.
Real Account starts out almost immediately interesting. We have an interesting main character, and than that character is sucked through to what I call the Internet World and than we have survival games with a lot of social commentary and clever strategy involved with these games. The strategy element I've felt was very well thought out, most of the time, but there were times I felt like a new element of the game being played would come out of no where. But I still highly enjoyed this manga. it was really intense at times, and sometimes shocking. Up until the point that I'm not going to spoil. I'm not going to give anything away but there is a certain point where they sort of get rid of the Survival Game aspect in favor of Action. There were car chases and monsters, and that wasn't why I was reading that.
Maybe that's a shallow reason for dropping it, but I felt like I wasn't reading the same manga anymore.
I'll maybe finish it when the manga finishes it's run or if it gets adapted into an anime but for now I will give it a break.

This series is a constant tragedy and it may be good for a cheap cry or two but that's all it is, it's a cheap tragedy filled with shock value and extremely mean people to allow this tragedy to happen, I mean I swear a lot of this wouldn't have happened if some of the characters weren't so mean to each other and of course the only real decent people in this show are some of the main characters. But at the same time I don't think this anime was so terrible it's in the middle.
First off I think some of the characters could have
...
been more interesting if they were given more thought such as the character of Kouta could have been an interesting character if some of his psychological problems were given more attention and was treated like a serious mental condition but instead people just treat it like his psychological problems aren't even there and sometimes even flat out ignore it and further more, with out spoiling too much, his psychological problems were caused due to a tragedy. I think the fact he had this condition was already a good set up for tragedy but of course they had to ramp up the stakes to needlessly over blown proportions.
I don't think there is such a thing as "Trying too hard" but I do think there is such a thing as trying too hard to impress somebody. And it seems as though the creator or whoever was behind this particular project was trying really hard to make the biggest, saddest and most shocking anime ever made. The intense violence is used to make the death scenes more shocking and with the mean and depressing atmosphere, the deaths seem a lot more sad than they actually are. At times the show even fools you to think some characters are going to die when in the next episode they are completely fine.
And the show is also guilty of using nudity to an excessive amount. It's fine at times, like I do think the use of nudity within the first minutes of the show was fine with the main character, but than the nudity is stopped being used for serious scenes and are than used for fanservice and comedy which is something that needs to stop in animes that want to be taken seriously. And I even find it laughable that the series is even attempting comedy for a series that is trying to be so tragic that it makes grown men cry.
So Elfen Lied is an edgy tragedy that used nudity and violence to make it's viewers cry, and it's fine for "dark and brooding" teenagers and people looking for yet another sad anime that will make them cry but for true anime fans looking for something special, well, honestly you may want to give it a look, I know I said a lot of bad things about it but it's just trying so hard that on some level, it actually does do it's job really well. And yes I won't call it good by any means because of it's questionable content but it of course does do it's drama pretty well, and plus i'm a little nostalgia blind since this is one of the first anime DVDs I have ever bought for myself.
If this anime just calmed the fudge down with it's explicit content and over done drama, I actually think this anime would have not been so infamous for being that ultra violent Japanese cartoon instead of being known for that epic tragedy like it wanted to be. And I don't think it's bad for it's use of violence and explicit content, it's just the way it was used. It was too "in your face" about it. It could have been used as a good metaphore for the many ways in which people can hurt each other. I think that was supposed to be sort of the underlining theme of this anime, because it seemed as though the characters were always hurting each other in some way, rather it be physically or emotionally. Intentional or not. But the theme sort of got over shadowed by the violence and explicit content, it sort of damages itself that way, but anyways that's man long rambling opinion on this anime.
Some people think this anime wouldn't have even been noticed if it wasn't for it's explicit content but I actually do think this anime still would have had something special going for it if it had been more softer and quiet.
