First, let's examine the similarities: - Small communities of users with superhuman abilities being targeted by organizations. - MCs are OP, probably the strongest within their groups. - MCs have the emotional support and teamwork from a close group of comrades. Despite sharing similar themes, both shows have very different initial tones. Zettai Karen Children: The Unlimited starts off with a bang, showing a psychic terrorist group raiding facilities across the world. Charlotte starts off on a gentler note, showing how school children use their special abilities across daily life in hilarious ways. The contrast makes both series complement each other in refreshing ways.

While both shows are not exactly well-acclaimed in the character and story departments, they harbor an uncommon quality that may appeal to some fans of the sci-fi niche: Accurate references to real science principles and technologies. Throughout these series, there are moments where one may think, "Wow, I didn't expect that what I've learned in that science lesson has anime references!". "Lol. That's quite an interesting application of tech." "When will this piece of tech be sold at my electronic store?" To prevent spoilers, I won't list the examples ;). These shows aren't for everyone, but if you crave some sci-fi elements that could make the anime world feel like a plausible reality, I'd recommend these shows.

Both have: - Super intelligent MCs who win battles using science (although Mahouka is "magical-science"). - Exposition of the scientific principles used by the MCs to win their battles. - MCs who are super rational and calm even in the most intense fights, able to lead and help their teammates to victory - MCs who appear cold on the surface, but have a soft side (able to care for their friends). - MCs who fight against overconfident opponents, only to make them gawk in disbelief upon defeat.
