Both animes revolve around a character being betrayed and them seeking vengeance however, they differ when it comes down to the method where Code Geass involves balls to the wall action Gankutsuo uses more subtle means as it follows Alexandre Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo with a few changes(by a few mean a shit ton like it's in the future and mechs for some reason).
