The story is continuous and circumstances become more complex as magic, curses, and other supernatural events unfold. The appeal of the story comes from the character interaction and the mystery revolving around the main character Hanako-kun. Nene is a great protagonist and her adventure with Hanako-kun is anything but predictable. Pacing could have been better? Not sure how to regard the pacing, I don’t binge watch shows, I watch them along side other things I’m watching and reading, I finished the show in the span of a couple of weeks and I really enjoyed my time with it.

Describing this anime “funny” would feel incorrect, ... there is a grimness to the mood of the show. Deadboy Hanako-kun is somewhat sadistic and carries an innocent disposition and his ghoulishly curiosity in other characters is very enthralling. There is an appeal to Hanako-kun’s way that leaves you giddy the whole way through, and Nene, the heroine of the story, is a lovable “fat-ankled” girl. What else need be said?

Not sure if any tropes were over used or not, the show felt brand new and fresh, maaaybe like a continuation of Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter?

The ending left the gorgeous promise of a season 2.

Voice acting and music were enjoyable. I liked both opening and ending songs, the ending more because the theme would work into the final minutes of some of the episodes for some heartfelt moments.

This is a solid aesthetic anime. its charming/cute/morbid, and i love that it has the characters spreading rumors in silhouette form kind of like in Revolutionary Girl Utena.

Overall the manga adaptation is spectacular, you can't ask for much better truly. Hanako is captured beautifully in the voice acting and mannerisms. All the the big panels hit hard in the anime and its just awesome to see.

Yea, the characters are memorable and likeable... the monsters and creatures are also pretty sweet variations on fantasy lore.

A MUST WATCH and READ.
