Both series revolve around calming restless spirits; DGM is more spiritually based whereas ENS is more sci-fi (although it does also have spiritual elements). Both series also feature an orphaned protagonist who joins an organisation to add meaning (Allen for family, and Shinra to protect others) as well as a wide cast of funny and loveable characters.

As a man, we all want to be able to protect the ones we love and be known as a "hero". In KHR, No-Good Tsuna is forced to become stronger and protect himself and his loved ones from the dangers of the mafia world. While Wire-Frame Kurogane of Kurogane struggles to become a "hero" through high school kendo. Both series also feature a mentor type character guiding the protagonists with coaching and tough love.

The more I read into HJ the more I'm reminded of DGM - the main characters look somewhat alike - the idea of the central supernatural theme being compatible with some people and incompatible with others ie. Innocence (DGM), Eureka (HJ) - both feature similar organisations ie. White Jokers/ Black Order vs Mavro/Noah Family - the "heads" of these organisations being alike personality-wise If I am to give more similarities, I'll start into spoilers. All I'm saying is, if you're a fan of DGM, Hungry Joker will be something to keep you occupied while you wait for releases. And if you're a Hungry Joker fan, then DGM will be a masterpiece for you.

Both are sports themed titles, with one being basketball and the other volleyball. In reading HKyuu I can see some of Kuroko in the main characters. In Kuroko, you have the Kuroko/Kagami pair who act as best friends slash rivals on and off the court. Kuroko helps Tetsuya and vice versa. In HKyuu, there's the Hinata/Kageyama pair who fit the exact same role on the team; Kageyama being Kuroko and Hinata being Tetsuya.

Both series follow a mafia-esque theme of a "Family" where the protagonist is forced into a situation where they need to fight to regain control of their destiny.
