Plot
Oops here we go again, the waifu died in the long ass episode 1. Top 10 saddest anime deaths, sent me into depression, The waifu with 40~ minutes of screentime dying was a major shock, Damn this stuff is dark... I thought to myself, Ah, looks like we got a one-episode drop boys. This trash don't need the three episode rule with an episode one like this.

And yet, I endured, I continued on, just to see what the hype was all about..

All I got was a bunch of redundant nonsense filled with cringe skippable pop songs, and side characters whose names I forgot. ... Kana, Aqua's sister, and the Youtuber going on their little idol arc is just plain boring.

The humor was terrible, oh my god. I can't believe this is the same Aka Akasaka that made Kaguya Sama. What a downgrade. At the end of the day though, humor is subjective, so some of yall might like this type of stuff, who knows. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Animation
Animation was great. Good eyes.

Sound
Average ost. Bad songs with the exception of op and ed.

Summary
I don't know man, I'm a fan of Akasaka sensei.

It's a good movie. Well written, nicely packed together, but some unnecessary bits that could be cut out. Makoto Shinkai has always been good at storytelling in fantasy settings, with his signature style of leaving the viewer in the dark about several concepts, making them hungry for more. Humor was solid, characters were decent. Music was great, RADWIMPS experimenting with vocals in the ost was for good. IMO not as good as his other works like Tenki No Ko, Kimi No Nawa and 5 centimeters, but that doesn't bring it down as a whole. People have this horrible ... habit of comparing every new movie he releases with Your Name and give it bad reviews solely because of the fact that they didn't like it as much. This is what brought Tenki No Ko's ratings down so much, and it's a kind of dark side to Makoto Shinkai fans. Anyways, as a whole, Suzume was good. It gets a 7.6/10 from me, rounded off to 8/10.

Now for my review from a down-bad perspective. Main girl is flat, both front and behind, very unappealing. Chair is goated, who knows what you could use those legs for ;). Suzume's aunt is the perfect MILF, carried the movie, literally best girl. But eh, not too much fanservice in here, wish they could give more of that... Hate these dang plot focused movies man..

If you're reading this, please get past the first 5 episodes. Episodes 1-4 can come across as being cringe, gay, mid, but the show really picks up in episode 5.

You might be wondering how weird this anime is, setting an ecchi harem in a sci-fi world. Boy, just wait until you see the later episodes. This mid cringe-fest ecchi completely transforms itself in every meaning of the word, adding in humor, decent visuals, and some WTF moments that improve it quite a bit. No, it's not the next peak sleeper hit, but it's definitely worth your time.

And yes, I also agree that episode 1 was ... extremely cringe and lowkey trash. But give it the time, and Renai Flops will unravel itself and deliver some decent writing and twists. Definitely worth a watch. I genuinely feel sorry for all the bad reviews coming from folk who quit before episode 5.
