Standalone manga review:
I feel like the manga reads like it is SUPER, SUPER, SUPER generic slide show with bullet point lists. A story progresses without content.
Also the manga as a whole feels like it was written to focus on sex and not a story. Everything is forced to focus on attraction and harem.

Light novel: 5th birthday, Only 5th, 10th, and 15th birthdays are celebrated with gifts and are for passing onto a new stage in life. *Gets gifts for use: wand, sword, etc. and his expectation are explained. He uses these "tools" over the next few books*.
Manga: I turned 5! Party. "Thanks's for the gifts (random gifts in his hands)". end...

Manga starts when he is like 3, missing the whole first 3 years of his life. They could easily written at least 3 solid chapters from this time.

Giving score of 7 based off the first 4 episodes.
If I had to explain this anime. It's like looking out a window at the ocean and beach. You have an amazing, but scaled down, view.
The Novel is like being at the beach with not just the scenery in front, but unlimited all around. There is depth in the wind, salt air, sounds, water, waves, foam, and birds.
Don't get me wrong the Novel is amazing. There is a reason the novel is on the top of most charts.
Just the a slice of scenery from the novel makes for a fair-to-good anime and it's

worth watching.
What is missing "Scale" and "Depth". BC should slow down. They have a top anime that could last 15 years on their hands.

Notes:
I have read the entire novel on wuxiaworld. Amazing translation by deathblade.
I am glad this anime is not another wreak of a cultivation adaptation.
I hope the anime drives more people to read the novel.
Anime is good, but lacks depth. It's needs to slow down and take it's time. This story is long enough that even without fillers it could rival Naruto in episode count.
Seems like the writers and producers are going off a summery or manga adaption. They need to sit down and read the novel.

What I fear:
The scenery art increases, the story gets dumbed-down, and the population/scale shrinks.

What I hope to see:
"SCALE"
This is a cultivation story, It's not written to fit into our environment.
More attention to scale. This is a large sect. Testing areas will not have a single room, but a hallway of rooms. Get it together.
Having a single bathroom in a mall would not work either. We all feel something is off.
Have a huge population supporting even a basic sect.
All Cultivation novels are a pyramid scheme. For one high level cultivator there are an exponential number of low level cultivators and in turn an exponential number of normal people.
GO FOR SCALE! We love it.
Give us a village or city scene.
The size of the world based on the novel's object sizes, travel speeds, and travel distances is huge. The planet is the size of our sun - with a world population reflecting that size. Give us some scale!

300th Dungeon Master/summoner is born, has potential cheat like ability. (1st chapter)
Dungeon Masters gain energy from people's emotions. So instead of a normal dungeon he makes a city onto of a dungeon (Not spoiler as it's in the bloody name of the Novel).
Unconscionably summons strong monster harem.

Story still has not gotten passed "untouched harem". Nothing has happened yet (volume 6)... I get a feeling it will not get past this until the start of volume 8...
Modern weapons are used... BUT HE IS NOT REINCARNATED OR FROM ANOTHER WORLD! (there is a way to know about modern tech that is unique to this story).

Updated Score 7ish.
Novel ended, Sequel novel in production.
Novel is kept clean, no worries about sex harem. Temptation battles were fought though...
Great buildup and challenges. Then more power buildup, and even stronger buildup... then steamroll.
There is a nice change to mental buildup and challenges later on in novel to keep it fresh (Also author made him to OP for normal battles at this point, but it did keep the story on track).

Sequel:
I have not read the more than the first chapter of the sequel yet. *Insert excuse to move main character to new environment to start over story, but will probably take new path*.

A good Dungeon Maker novel that uses a city for get Mana (DP) from people to expand. Anything is this review is covered in first 3 chapters.
I will get the one issue I have out of the way now: "people are never as forgiving in real life as they are in this novel".
City inside dungeon offers many benefits when you have complete control of the environment.
Lots of girls, but with okay explanation. Rough ex-adventures were told to buy skilled slaves, but not knowing his vision got him girls for reproduction - with minor skills, lolz.

This is novel that has gotten past the point of a unused harem. Things actual do happen as you get closer to 100 chapters.

Not half bad writing and idea is good.
The pace on the other hand is all over the place:
It started with just a few basic dungeon rooms with specific cool traps (you will have to read to find out). But then it jumped to making whole dungeons. The change felt entirely unnatural.
The start is a nice short read if you want something with a different feel.
On the other hand if you have limit time then the related "Maou-sama no Machizukuri! Saikyou no Dungen wa Kindai Toshi" is a better read.

"I would be completely satisfied if my life's biography was like this".

I am a speed reader. I Read all the 261 chapters within 7 days.
Story flow is great, timeline is great; A real piece of art.
Notes:

1) When characters are brought in, enough history is mentioned for a smooth transaction (unlike bleach).
2) TIME DOES PASS, sections can be spans of time from hours to years. This really makes these novels stand out. Maturing and growing takes time.
(the reader is kept in the loop with things like, "It's been 3 months since ____")
3) Everyone has skills in their own fields of talent. This is not about becoming "stronger" than everyone else at fighting, but growing and progressing in what the person is good at through effort (balanced against intelligent-training and talent).
4) Definitely a recommended read. Warning: Has some mature parts during juvenile years.

Problems:
1) All shots are super zoomed in making it impossible to get a feel of what is happening.
2) Angles/Scenes jumps around too fast to actually watch, can cause headaches.
3) NO NIPPLES!? I am not a person for porn, but to following the story and showing boobs and everything except nipples is annoying, like drawing a face without a nose - it is not natural.
4) THE PS2 game "Final Fantasy X" from 2000 has higher quality graphics than this anime in 2016 in which we have the full color spectrum and over 1000x the rendering power. I know people a who could can make better

sprites in blender - in just a few hours!
5) It is sad, but going from the manga's stills with a story teller would have have better story/Art/Sound/Character (yes even still characters would have been better than these sprites of which we never see more than 30% of in a scene anyway).
I hope that Berserk gets enough popularity and enough bad reviews that they remake this season.
