I will try to explain my thoughts without spoilers, so no specifics.

I mostly enjoyed myself up until the end of shibuya incident. Kyoto Goodwill Event and Death Painting arcs were boring to me though. Hidden inventory was the best arc by far. Shibuya incident was good if you turn your brain off.

Culling game was fucking trash though. I have never seen any media take that much of a nose dive in terms of quality. Except for a few small things, almost none of the events that happened during that arc matter in any shape or form. Despite that it takes up a quarter of ... the whole manga or something like that. Just wastes time.

For no good reason a fuckton of new characters are introduced out of nowhere, while our main cast is mostly ignored. As a result our established cast has not been developed for what it feels like 150 chapters. This is obviously unacceptable. Of course the new characters cannot be given enough depth or development within such a short amount of time, as 10 fucking fights are happening at once.

Culling game did not adress existing problems of the series, it decided to say fuck it we ball and introduced more problems while ignoring the past ones.

Another criticism I have is that the artwork has been degrading steadily for a while. I checked out the latest chapters out of curiosity and its become really quite bad. This isn't THAT important though.

I have never been bored this much consuming any piece of media. Culling Game is just a colossal horsehit and it takes JJK from a solid 8 to a 6, barely enjoyable almost mid shounen. Hopefully the last arc is good, I dropped JJK after chapter 230 or so after culling game burned me out. I will update the review after the series concludes.

A friend recommended this to me and after seeing it's score on MAL i didn't hesitate to try it. I was surprised to find a dogshit manga that thrives on making jokes out of sexually harassing/assaulting fucking 14 year olds.

These acts are often portrayed as jokes and constitute a good portion of the "comedy" within the manga. The rest of the comedy elements come from Onizuka making weird faces and fucking 14 year olds acting cartoonishly evil throwing molotov cocktails and shit getting people raped and sexually assaulted. If this shit is supposed to be funny or endearing i am concerned with the mental ... capacity of these fucking GTO readers praising this shit to heaven and beyond. The worst part is that these unhinged situations are played off as something normal or funny when almost all of them are criminal behavior. The characters cannot be redeemed if their actions are not instantiated to be bad.

Art is mid at best, character designs are unintelligible from each other most of the time if not for their hairstyles. It is just servicable, though telling characters apart becomes more painful as the series goes on and makes the reading experience horrible.

The plot is nonexistent, a random psycho 14 year old tries to get Onizuka expelled by doing god knows what and through very questionable means Onizuka somehow handles the situtation and gains the respect of his student. Saving someone or himself during the process. It's fine the first couple times but it gets very repetitive when all the side characters are boring as fuck. Just as some of the characters are becoming likeable they do some unhinged shit again and you remember they were just human garbage all along.

Just when you think Onizuka himself is fine , he openly sexually assaults 14 year old girls or lusts over them like a pedo. How do people find this garbage human being likeable or inspiring in any way?

The worst part is that if it were funny I could overlook most of these things and enjoy it for what it is. Unfortunately it is not and even if it was i wouldn't be able to enjoy my time as im constantly reminded of the countless sexual assaults and harassments the 14 year old girls go through in this manga. I respect myself just enough to not enjoy this shit.

Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time reading this. If you are going to read it, try to not turn a blind eye to the things i mentioned. Normalization of these things are horrible for the readers and the japanese manga in general. People will try to tell you it is just how japanese manga culture is, but that doesn't fucking justify the overt showcase of unhinged sexual behavior and normalization of it. Just because these things are a part of the japanese manga/anime culture doesn't mean they shouldn't be criticised. Some ecchi shit and fanservice is fine, it sometimes adds charm to the series it's in but there is a line where it's too much and harmful.
