I felt the other review didn't really do this story much justice so wanted to add some thoughts. Keep in mind, I've only read what is translated of the manhwa so far, and it's based on a novel that is still being translated as well, I enjoyed this story enough I would read the novel - and honestly would probably enjoy it more.
I do agree that the story is pretty mid at face value, though I loved all the repressed anger from the FL. Seeing her hold everything in and struggle to keep from boiling over at points kept me reading! Obviously, this is an
...
isekai romance, so it has your pretty typical isekai characteristics; doesn't pay much attention to settings, world building, side plots etc. It focuses pretty heavily on the main characters. This may be different in the novel - as this manhwa has stock backgrounds and whatnot.
The characters are fairly decent. You are meant to dislike the male lead initially due to his very cold-duke-of-the-north type persona, but give him time. FL is pretty average, though she has some inner demons that I have yet to come across in similar stories. I really liked her backstory and felt for her a lot, I found myself cheering her on whenever she broke her innocent girl façade. As far as the other characters, I think the male lead's sister is pretty well done and interesting, as well as the antagonist (though you don't know too much about them yet in the manhwa)
The one thing I will say about the FL is she is always getting into trouble/hurt/needing rescuing, which is something I've grown particularly tired of, but it's sort of to be expected with these stories. If that's something that really bothers you, you may not like this one.
The art is very nice! It's pretty typical of the genre, and the backgrounds don't get too much love, but I found the main characters to be pleasing to look at.
I can't say much else until it finishes, but I'd say it does stand out above some others in the genre - but not quite super unique thus the 7 "good" rating from me. Overall I would recommend to those that love the genre!

While i'm giving this story "Mixed Feelings" know that I was REALLY impressed by this one...I'm just aware that there will be many put off by the premise or drop it within the first few chapters because of it.
I was really surprised to see no reviews. I stumbled across this story randomly while looking for a completed manhwa, but wasn't expecting it to be this dense! Sometimes with these "historical" settings the story is pretty surface level or just follows the same formula, but Lady Devil is not like that at all.
It's one of those stories where no character is a good character. Everyone
...
is fairly morally ambiguous and leaves you conflicted with each new chapter. If that's not something you typically like, I still think you could find a way to enjoy this, as it's very well executed. I felt I had a love-hate relationship with every single character. No one is perfect, no one makes all the right choices, and the end result is a very thrilling story!
The plot itself is insane. The author is extremely creative, and you can tell they really poured everything into it. I know people will be turned off by some of the themes here, but without spoiling everything, I will say that not everything is how it appears!! That being said, there are definitely shocking moments that can be tough to read. I can't imagine the story being depicted in any other way, though.
The art is amazing. Characters were well done and memorable. I NEVER felt bored reading this. It was too long for me to read in one sitting, but if I could, I would. I seriously couldn't put this down. In similar manhwas I will often find myself skipping stuff but I didn't have to with Lady Devil (plus, if you were to do this you would miss out on important details integral to the main plot)
My only critique is the ending felt quite rushed, and there were some holes and questions I was left with regarding certain characters. You don't learn too much about the world around them, however, it was very character-focused and I think it was enough to carry the story. Overall, I think I would give this a 7-8/10.

This was a brief, but enjoyable read for me! There is an age gap between the main characters of about 5 years, and the female lead starts off ~17yrs old. I've definitely seen worse, but keep this in mind. Nothing really happens prior to her graduation, though.
I really liked the female lead. She was bubbly, likeable, straight forward, and I loved how the author portrayed her as a "gyaru" with different hair and clothing styles each day, it just adds a nice touch that I really appreciate & look for in a story! She was a little annoying and immature at times, but she's a
...
teenager.
Male lead wasn't very memorable for me. He was a very average shoujo guy, and I honestly wasn't really impressed by his personality. In comparison to the FL, he was just very "blah" and boring. You don't learn much at all about his family or backstory.
There isn't much in the realm of love triangles or conflict, it was really just centered around the age gap and waiting.
The art is gorgeous, and really helps carry the story - I think it's worth reading for this fact alone.
Overall, I wish the ML was fleshed out more and had more to his character, and that there was more of an epilogue with the two of them. Honestly the art and the FL really just carry the whole thing, but I still recommend it if you want a light, fluffy and straight forward romance :)

This one really flew under my radar! I'm honestly not a huge fan of boy-turns-into-animal trope as it can be pretty predictable and boring (unless done correctly like Fruits Basket), but I was pleasantly surprised and happy I ended up reading this one!
It's a fairly simple read, and can easily be finished in one sitting with only 25 chapters. The story itself is pretty surface level, not much happens, and there's really not much conflict or fleshing out of any of the characters, though I feel this was done purposefully to keep it a light read. Because of this, the relationship between the MCs develop
...
quickly and effortlessly.
The real enjoyment I found was the artwork and dynamic between the MCs. I feel that was enough to keep me reading, but if you're looking for anything deeper than this you may not feel satisfied. I will say, this one is STEAMY and reads almost more like a josei rather than a shoujo. So while it's light and fluffy, there are some very intimate scenes that are done very well.
Overall I do recommend this one, especially for those looking for a straight forward romance with a lot of teasing and intimate moments. I will say, the one thing I would have really liked to see is their lives beyond high school, it always makes for the perfect icing on the cake for me :)

I stumbled upon this cute story while looking for romance reccs. I was surprised to see no reviews! I finished this in one sitting, it appears to be based on an ongoing novel - so potential for a sequel!
I really liked this story, as "plain" as it was. It didn't go in detail on the world, the school, magic, or pretty much anything aside from our main couple BUT I thought they were interesting enough as is. That being said, there is really only one main conflict with an overbearing and stalker-y obsessed prince they actively try to avoid during the whole thing. It's
...
pretty comedic at points - I loved seeing FL & ML's mutual hatred and annoyance for the prince.
You don't really get to know the main leads well, but you do get a pretty good idea of their personalities throughout. I loved how while different, they complimented each other and had good chemistry. There were many sweet moments between them. I especially adored FL. Her determination and passion for ML was adorable :)
I also liked the character designs and the school uniforms. Loved a more modest school uniform that still looked super flattering - it's such a minor thing but I just really loved the design of them.
I really do recommend this one to anyone looking for a short-ish romance.

Okay I wanted to read this because it's getting an anime adaptation ?? Which honestly surprises me based on how bad this story is. I wasn't super keen on the whole 15 & 25 age gap (it also shows when she was really little and he helped care for her...egh). I gave it a chance simply because an anime is being made for it.
From the get go it rubbed me the wrong way. Red flag behavior from ML all around. He's NOT likeable...it's like a rendition of a 13 yr olds journal she keeps hidden under her bed. ML IS supposed to be yakuza...but still.
...
He's creepy, cringe, and toxic. FL is no better. She's your typical weak, timid girl who can't go more than a day without being kidnapped, assaulted, or harassed then rescued by ML. She's also the type to say the exact opposite of what she means. The author truly did not give any of the characters any redeeming qualities. I got through half of the story and I still don't know a thing about anyone.
I dropped it when the male "rival" came along. He's not even so much a rival...just a disgusting degen harasser. It was getting so far fetched / icky I couldn't even finish it. Literally nothing happens in this story. The whole yakuza plot means nothing...it's just a way to excuse the insanity that goes on here. There's a part where FL minimizes her assault because she wants the guy to still be in the school play T_T Can't make this up lol. There's no meaningful friendships or side characters or anything at all. Just FL getting into trouble over and over again and being rescued.
As someone who has consumed a lot of romance content this just isn't a worthwhile read. I'm shocked it's even getting animated. I can think of many other romance titles that are more deserving of an adaptation.
The art was okay, I wasn't a fan of how the men were drawn. Despite everything I think I'll attempt to watch the anime when it comes out simply out of morbid curiosity.

I love vamp romance series and this one flew under my radar till now. This review has some surface level spoils - but nothing major about the story itself.
You have your typical depressed, bullied, introverted female lead. She's the daughter of a shaman and has some powers herself. She awakens an ancient vampire and a codependent relationship begins - he helps her break out of her shell & standup to her relentless bullies (while also providing companionship) and he begins fulfilling his goal of becoming human again.
There's an obvious age gap which is common to this genre (vamps are usually portrayed as 100+ yrs old).
...
It isn't really focused on, and there is a time skip at a certain point bringing our female lead to 20yrs. Male lead is still pretty flirtatious and whatnot until then - so this may not be your cup of tea if it bothers you.
While reading, I considered the story to be okay. I'm not a huge fan of master/servant/puppy dog male leads because when it leads to romance it doesn't feel new. Normally these types of characters don't act differently when they do fall in love with the lead, since they're already so lovey dovey by default. I think general flirtatious behavior is pretty common with this genre but it's a little more subtle than what is portrayed in the main characters here. They act like a couple from day one pretty much.
From female lead's POV, I can understand why she would fall for him. She explained it many times and it showed through her beautiful character development how much of a positive influence he was on her. Now for the guy - I didn't know why he liked her so much. Pity, maybe? Sure she's pretty and also resembles his mom (? eh) but he seemed mostly just dependent on her blood. Again, because he's the puppy dog type it was hard to discern if he actually loved her romantically or if he was just a charismatic vampire like so many are in these stories. There's really no elaborate proclamations of his love for her or anything that made me go "wow, that was nice." It seemed the female lead would do most of that and he would just follow along.
Nothing really happens in this story but it definitely had the potential. I really liked the characters, but there were a lot of plot holes and characters that were discarded as it went on. Most of the story felt like it took place in her bedroom.
Then the epilogue hits and it's all over the place. Why is male lead still a vampire? We don't get to really see what life is like for them as an actual couple. He really is her pet dog. I'm giving it a 4/10 because I liked the characters and their designs. But the story was not great, and the romance was stale.

This is a super short, easy read about a new marriage between a couple with a significant age gap (20ish years). Honestly not my most favorite trope (I think small gaps are fine but a 16 and 37yr old just too icky IMO). I feel the story would've been cuter and more wholesome if they were closer in age. Listen, I get it. Historically it wasn't really too out of the norm, and I do understand the story is centered around this age gap...so if you don't like it you won't like the story...but still :p
The characters are considerably different from one another because of
...
their ages, and it's what drives the story forward. Female MC is very "babyish" which isn't surprising due to the time period - but made for a slightly uncomfy read (she talks in a baby voice in one of the panels) and she is constantly jealous, pouting, or whining about something.
Male MC makes a promise to her father not to make a move until she turns 20 but does not communicate this. This leads to frustration - the female lead is always wondering and stressing over the fact he won't reciprocate or initiate stuff. Though judging by their interactions in just a few days of marriage, I doubt he would stick to that promise. I also doubt she would be fine waiting 4 years.
All that said it wasn't a bad story. I think the length was fine for what it was and I liked the mystery surrounding the male MC. The art was good (same art as Horimiya). There isn't much that happens - just random things thrown in to create minimal conflict and rile up female lead. I think the story would've been so much better if she was older and they could've really ran with a similar premise. The characters have good chemistry and the reasoning behind the male lead wearing a mask all the time, youkai etc. I can't really complain though because the age gap is the driving point of focus in this story.
I give it a mixed review because I know people will enjoy this short story, and others may be completely turned off by the premise.

Prelim review but I got caught up in one sitting and couldn't get enough of these two!! I'm also unsure when this will be updated again - honestly there's enough content in the chapters I recommend reading them even though it's not completed.
The story is nothing new - it is very similar to Ima Koi (it even starts the same way) and if you enjoyed You Got Me, Sempai! You will probably like this one. That being said, I liked the relationship between the MCs enough that even though the premise wasn't super unique, I still enjoyed it.
It's pretty straight forward, with minimal misunderstandings
...
and no love rivals as of yet. Since it's a shoujo, I was worried it would take forever for them to be together / have a ton of "meh" in the middle but it didn't. I was pleasantly surprised!! It is super cute and heartwarming.
I like the MCs - super cute, good communicators (though very shy at times at the start) I like how FL wasn't afraid to get to know ML despite his bad reputation, and her desire to help him make friends / show the school he isn't as the rumors say.
There's not much conflict yet, but I think the MCs have a good dynamic and a healthy relationship. It would be nice if the author shows them finish school, maybe living together etc.

This was a decent read for those who like the childhood friends to lovers genre, I finished it after a couple sittings and enjoyed it for the most part. I'd consider it to be more on the josei end as they are all college-aged.
I'll keep this review brief because there are other great reviews of this one already.
I liked how fleshed out the MC's relationship was. I liked seeing snippets of their high school days together, how they became friends, and all the sweet moments between the two of a genuine friendship. It encompasses a lot of your typical romance themes - misunderstandings, jealousy,
...
peer pressure etc. so it does fall into the same tropes as others with the love rivals and whatnot.
There were lots of characters in this one, and I found them all to be pretty interesting, though none of them really received much fleshing out aside from the MC's (even then, I feel like the MCs are kinda strangers to me too). At the end of the comic there's some side stories that I honestly skipped over because while I did find those characters interesting - not enough to the point I would want to read more about them in a separate format. I would've preferred more of the MCs - since it takes awhile for them to get together. I also would've appreciated more of their life in the future (marriage, kids etc) as many comics and romance manga seem to like leaving those out.
It's not something I would reread, but it was enjoyable. The art was simple but pleasing.
