Hi Guys this is my first review on MAL so excuse my inexperience.
Ergo Proxy can be described in a nutshell. The word to describe it would be " pretentious". The first few episodes started off rather well displaying the danger of the ergo proxy, The secret of the past society {earth} and the overall introduction of the anime's premise.
I thought that ergo proxy would have perfect answers to the mysteries given in the first quarter of the series. The only important fact i got out of the whole anime was that the ergo-proxy was vincent. spoiler much. Alot of my questions were answered in the
...
most awkward way. Remember that Quiz show that Vincent was competing in? All those trivial information on the story like the methane gas bombing and such were mostly answered in that episode.
Ergo proxy had a major problem. It's main character Re-al. Her character to me served no major purpose to the entire story apart from being a important grandaughter, a love interest and most importantly an observer. My favourite part of the entire anime was when Iggy got the cognito virus and started calling her a BITCH! that was the most relatable aspect of the show to me. RE-Al's bitchyness.
Although I hated the story, It did have decent artwork and soundtrack. When I first saw the cover of ergo proxy in MAL. I thought to myself that it had some dark dystopian theme in the picture shown above with Re-al. Although it did have that theme it was done quite poorly. To me this mediocre anime is way overly praised and should watch other animes that is done better e.g Pyscho-pass.
