If you were a fan of Gridman then you will for sure enjoy this show as well. SSSS Gridman brought out my love for the mecha/kaiju genre and I had no idea what I Was missing out on.

Yomogi one day runs into a mystery man named Gauma which startles him, later he is found following Yomogi around for saving him by giving him food. Yume sort of an outcast and emotionally troubled because of her sisters passing she became distant from people besides her friend Mei. but her secret well not really a secret because she is known for breaking promises for the boys ... she meets. The other two characters who are brother and sister are so forgettable and definitely the worst part about the show so far. The villain's of the show which there are four used to be friends with Gauma 5,000 years ago but are now enemy's and we've only learned very a little about why that is. This rivalry is why there are kaiju's that are brought by command.


This story is staring a whole new cast which I think are arguably weaker than the cast in Gridman but some standouts are definitely Yomogi, Yume, and Gauma. I feel the villain's of this show are kind of underwhelming compared to Gridman, but we are only 4 episodes in so they could show there true colors.

The art while keeping up with triggers style is beautiful at times and I feel there really having fun with this universe.

The sound design in the SSSS series is fantastic and it always keeps you on the edge of your seats with the mech sounds and the fantastic soundtrack which has been great in both shows.

Now I have read most of the light novels and manga and I am very impressed so far with how they're adapting with the source material.

I don't understand why people are complaining about the concept and writing in this show because Yoshida is not trying to prey on a teenager, now for the other people she was with that’s another story, but remember this is entertainment and not real and is setting up a story for a very real scenario. While I see how the title can put people off.

On to the review.

Don't go into this just thinking its gonna be a cute comedy which it does have those elements, but this also dives into the sad life of a female Runaway and how people are not always just there to help you but to use you, because they don't care about you.

Yoshida, was just on his way home after getting drunk but also getting rejected by a woman he was in love with, when he comes across a girl all alone and she says "I'll let you do me, if you let me stay" which just shows you how she's been living. This begins there relationship with many ups and downs. Starting with Sayu wondering why Yoshinda isn't taking advantage of her and Yoshinda trying to figure out Sayu's motives and trying to give her everything he can to show her that she is safe and that he doesn't want to hurt her.

Yoshida and Sayu are the reason to keep watching but the side characters have their goals and are interesting to learn about and how they react to Yoshida choosing to take care of this girl. I can't wait to see how they will play a role later in the story.


I'm not going to say anything else because I want you guys to experience this show for yourself, but don't get angry if there's some disturbing content you have been warned about.

First off why are people review bombing this show you all are a bunch of snowflakes. Second people saying this show is generic while I don't really like a lot of Isekai and im in love with it.

ok enough of a rant.

This show surprised me in many ways I did not expect an Isekai to go back and forth through his previous life and his new life, which I thought was an interesting spin on the basic born in another world formula. The story is interesting and the world is fascinating with different languages and races of creatures. The monsters are animated great and are ... all unique and cool.

All the characters are solid and you actually feel and care for them, and when you don't see a character for a while you get pumped to just see them develop and progress the later you see them.

A lot of people are criticizing the ecchi aspects and while I agree they use them alot it almost brings a little more charm and comedy to the show, and I wont lie this show is actually funny.

The Art and Sound of the show are both impressive I didn't expect it to look so good, but in some places the audio did sound a little jank but overall it is beautiful and has a great soundtrack.

I feel your enjoyment of this show will differ from some people but if your tired of the same old Isekais not changing the formula I really feel you will enjoy this.

I feel like they might drop his past life in the sequel but I hope they don't seeing him regret and change his thinking while talking to this supposed god was one of my favorite moments.

Closer to the end they reveal some new characters which I think to possibly be villain's but im not totally sure yet, and I cant wait to see how they will affect the narrative.

This story is set before Bakemonagatari and gives us the fresh backstory behind our main character, and gives us new connections to already established characters.


The story 9: While with not a lot of time to develop uses it time wisely to create an engaging narrative giving us an insight to more of the characters and world of this story. Showing what's to come in the later movies and mostly being a setup for them.

The art 10: The art is visually stunning a mix between a more real looking background with shafts art just melt together into some of the most beautiful scenes I've scene, Its ... of one of a kind.

The sound 9:The sound is just as good if not better than Bakemongatari with smaller more meaningful music tracks, and just overall the sound design brings it all together with the story and artstyle.

The characters 10: The characters are my favorite part of this series, they are so unique in there own right and all interact with each other in different and unique ways there is not a single bad character in this series.

The enjoyment 8:The enjoyment in this movie was fun but just lacked in some areas where Bakemongatarai strived, It definitely picked up towards the end and got you ready for the next one, but with the limited run time and less character interaction there was less enjoyment.

Overall 9: I think this movie is awesome from being visually stunning to great dialogue and setup it really shows how over the top Monogatarai can get without losing its momentum.
