After a first date gone horribly wrong Ken Kaneki, a mild-mannered (read ‘boring’) 19-year-old college student, finds himself transformed into a flesh eating being known as a ‘ghoul’.
In the universe Kaneki inhibits ghouls exist alongside with humans, only hidden.

With his new and unwanted transformation Kaneki needs to learn to walk the fine line between controlling his urges and blending in with humans — a task which proves to be much harder than it sounds: ghouls fighting over territory and special human police force set on killing every single ghoul in Tokyo prevent our young protagonist from staying hidden in the sidelines. Kaneki realizes ... (at some point) he must learn to embrace his new inner violent side to defend the people he loves and cares for.

I hated this show. I think I’m one of the few people who did. The never ending fighting arcs, Kaneki’s whinny weak persona, the annoying supporting characters who are either angry, whinny, over-dramatic, or useless… It was all too much for me.

It is only in the very last episode of the show that things start looking up, but seriously, who has the patience to go through nearly 300 minutes to only see some progress in the final 10?

Uta the mask-maker, the ending song, and Rize are the only redeeming elements of this show. To be honest, even the art work is not that great…

Tokyo Ghoul is Deadman Wonderland meets Outrage.

Ao no Exorcist is a great and very straightforward animation, and hands down one of the nicest ones I've watched about demons, and let me tell you: the Japanese love their demons, so they have more than enough shows to spare.

Rin and Yukio Okumuro are orphaned twins raised at a monastery by a salty yet humorous priest.
While Yukio is intelligent, hard-working, calculating, and reserved, his twin brother Rin is brash, head-strong, and outspoken. As fate would have it the two of them are the offspring of Satan himself, thus they must learn how to wield their power and use is for good ... instead of following the demonic foot-steps of their dad.

In order to master their skills and learn how to use their power for good Rin and Yukio are shipped off to an exoricst school ran by none other than Mephistopheles.

Along his way Rin meets fascinating fellow students who each - as usually is in anime and manga - have their own stories to tell and reasons that keep them motivated at perfecting their exorcist skills.

From the beautiful animation to the killer soundtrack, Ao no Exorcist is a great anime, not to mention that it does have some very unexpected (sort of) plot twists. Keep in mind that with this little jem not everything is what it seems.

In all honesty this anime is a bit... I don't know... I did find it odd at first, but eventually ended up giving it a second chance. It's enjoyable with a very wide variety of zany characters, nice soundtrack and the premise that love conquers all!

Durarara!! Had very few sappy moments, or lengthy pointless monologues. If it's action, the supernatural, exploring relationships of love and friendship, and city life perspective you're after, this anime will not disappoint you. It also manages to balance quite perfectly between humour and more mature subject matters, which makes it even more appealing.

The only problem I have ... with Durarara!! is that the anime has the potential to be darker, and I really wish it was.

Simply put 'Nana' is an anime about love and relationships, not just between a man and a woman, but love and relationships in general.

People are complex, and there are few animations out there that capture that complexity so well.

This anime has been around for a while and should definitely get a cult status.

On the down side 'Nana' tends to get overly motional at times, which might make the watching heart-wrenching; it does get unnecessarily tragic, but hey, our lives are quite often unnecessarily tragic.

The art work could have been better as the characters are unproportionally tall sometims (compared to the furniture), ... however, that might have been the drawing style at the time.

Ok, to be fair this anime makes little sense if you didn't read the manga, and unfortunately it is in itself super short (each episode running for about two minutes with twelve episodes in total), which results in a story that doesn't make a lot of sense.

So what is Donyatsu all about? A donut shaped cat awakes after a coma to find himself alone on the desolated streets of Tokyo: the humans and animals are nowhere in sight.

Our donut shaped protagonist has no idea who he is or what is his name, luckily for him he encounters a bagel cat, along with several ... other pastry shaped animals; all appear to suffer from amnesia.

It's pretty funny, and interesting as you see these oddballs trying their best to make sense of what the hell happened on earth, especially in light of the urban landscape being decorated with human skeletons at nearly every turn.

Donyatsu does not rise any existential questions, nor does it try to get over your head, yet one thing is clear; there is something very dark lurking underneath the surface of this kiddy-like colourful anime.

I do recommend you read the manga: it's so much better and actually makes sense. The anime is more of a supplement.

Ok, so honestly I don't really know what was the point this anime was trying to get across, I did, however, come up with some of my own:

1) It's ok to be treated like 'trash' by the object of your affection.

2) It's ok if your boyfriend is a sadist, as long as you love him.

3) Don't give up on people no matter what, and even if they treat you like a doormat - just keep pinning after them no matter what.

Wolf Girl and Black Prince is, on the bright side, not somber or overly dramatic - i.e. none of the characters went ... through some psychological or physical abuse - which makes it a good and somewhat relaxing watch.

Sata (Black Prince) is a controlling and sadisitic handsome jerk, while Erika (Wolf Girl) is the average looking, yet kind hearted and naive heroine.

In order to impress her friends Erika claims that Sata is her boyfriend (unaware that they actually attend the same school)... From then on you can sort of guess how the whole thing will unfold.

There's definitely a Sub and Dom vibe to the odd relationship formed between Sata and Erika: he likes it that she follows him around like a lost puppy while displaying but loyalty and complete submission, while Erika... Frankly I have no idea why she's so determine to stay by Sata's side... Maybe because he's got a big d***... Meh, I don't know. Overall Sata is not such a bad guy; Erika takes it on herself to redeem him and prove to everyone he's putting on the tough act so that people keep their distance and don't bother him.

Bottom line is that the anime is funny, fast-paced, and light. It has its share of cringe worthy moments for sure, so girls beware: don't watch it and expect it to be some romantic relationship guide-line.

Tomie is not a bad manga, however, it is flawed with the biggest one of it being repetitive and almost nonsensical. The story centres around one beautiful girl named, well, Tomie, who takes a mean grip of mens' hearts and subverts them to do any and every of her beckoning. The men, as if under some sort of a trance, are more then willing to kill, beat, threaten and berate any one on whom Tomie points her well manicured accusing finger at.
The manga is made a compilation of stories (for most parts one-shot style) featuring Tomie as the antagonist, with the unfortunate protagonist (most ... often male) serving as her object of affection and the device that shall eventually put an end to her life.
By the end of nearly each chapter Tomie is slashed to pieces only to be miraculously reanimated in the next one.
Perhaps based on a folklore or an urban legend, Tomie does deserve your attention as it has pretty gory stuff in it, but hardly three volumes of attention...

Despite the superb art and the original plot Hikari Club was not a very fun or an engaging read. I decided to partake in the mission of reading this because I really liked the artwork and the mangaka's previous work Suicide Club (which I enjoyed much better).
Somewhat erotic, Peter-Pan meets Frankenstein, with a hint of Lord of the Flies... That's what Hikari Club is about. A group of somewhat gay boys make a robot and kidnap a girl... From there on a struggle for power and a forbidden star-crossed lovers romance takes place in this short graphic novel.
Personally, I found it slightly boring, ... and weak plot wise, however, it was very original.
Read it if you're looking for something with a touch of erotica mixed with some mecha and psychotics.

Ok, so Space Dandy is one of those love or hate anime, and frankly I get it why most people just don't seem to get it... Should you give this show a chance? For sure, especially if you're looking for something light and plotless... It's campy, funny, kind of perverted (but hey, at least not it's not gross fan-service perverted...).
Other than that SD is about a guy who travels space along with a robot and a cat-looking alien. They hunt for rare aliens to make some buck and while doing that embark on some very odd adventures. Some of the episodes were intensely surreal... ... So be warned..

Alter-ego meets... Ugh... This anime has one thing pinned down right, and that's the killer opening. Himouto! Umaru-chan is sort of, kind of, like Watamote... The watered-down version at least. To be fair it's original in it's own way: Umaru is a hardcore otaku who also happens to be the hottest girl in your close parameter... And of course she tries her best to hide her geekiness behind a facade of cuteness and kindness. For me this was the first time watching something the like so, yeah, it was pretty enjoyable to an extent.
Now, that was the good stuff. The bad stuff is that ... the animation is mediocre, character development is more or less zero, the fan service got on my nerves from time to time, and I hardly felt any attachment to Umaru, her brother, or their friends. Her pet hamsters were pretty rad tho. Rock on pet hamsters.
If you're looking for something light and non-committing give it a try, although the banality of it all might make you feel discouraged and drop it mid-way, especially with all the 'higher quality' anime circulating around.
Too much Moe is what I say.
