If you're writing a gag special, then this is the one to beat.
Gag specials usually suffer from overplayed jokes and poor art but not Index-tan. These two specials take scenes directly from the original anime and add comical twists to each one as their own independent skit. Along with taking scenes from the original series, the animation, sound, and voice acting are all just as solid too, if not better and more over the top at times.
Index-tan is the first gag special that's truly made me laugh out loud, not just a few times, but over and over. The sound effects were one of the
...
greatest additions to the humor, and added some fun off screen moments.
Whether you enjoyed the anime or not, if you've seen the first season in full then I highly recommend watching these shorts!

Edit Notice: Apparently I listed the incorrect episode one. I've updated my review to reflect what the episode was actually about.
The specials are definitely a great watch for anyone who enjoyed Girls und Panzer.
There's side stories, sequel episodes, and episode additions. Overall the mood of the specials felt a little different from the feel of the show but they were just as enjoyable.
EP 1: The girls spend their time picking out swimsuits before they go to the beach. What really stands out here is the originality of the swimsuits that are showcased. I got a good laugh at the ending.
EP 2: A standard camping episode
...
with a bonus of everyone deciding to be in swimsuits.
EP 3: The most interesting episode by far. They go into detail on answering questions you may have about the series and school ships.
EP 4: A full presentation of the Anglerfish Dance that had to be performed after losing the school's first match.
EP 5: An addition to the match against Pravda High that follows Yukari and Riko on their scouting expedition. This one was a lot of fun.
EP 6: And to wrap it all off, a sequal episode where the student council hosts a celebration for winning the championship.

Overall this wasn't anything special for an anime and it was only really redeeming to watch thanks to the story in the last few episodes.
Ecchi:
If you're watching this for the mild nudity ecchi then you will be sorely disappointed. There were very few ecchi scenes and they only happened in the first half of the season. Other than those few scenes, there was no real fanservice, not even a single jiggle. On the opposite side, if you hate ecchi, then this tag shouldn't cause you any trouble other than the very few scenes of randomly showing breasts.
Story:
The plot twists with the past were pretty decent
...
and the politics in the matter made plenty of sense. The story was probably the best part of the show that actually made it enjoyable.
Art:
The combat animations seemed strange and wonky at times and didn't feel very natural. Combat was slow, short, and not too entertaining. At times the mouth movements were very chompy when talking (at least for the dub).
Sound:
The volume levels were pretty bad especially in the first episode. Character voices don't stand over the background sounds or music making the characters harder to listen to. On the bright side there was one pretty decent song in the soundtrack that had an epic fantasy vibe.
Character:
The 2 major main characters got on my nerves more often than I'd liked throughout the story. They're both bratty, rude, and senseless towards each other. I never ended up liking Cecily but the blacksmith Luke did become more enjoyable after his backstory was revealed. Lily was adorable.
Enjoyment:
I enjoyed this enough to keep myself occupied with my time. The story again is what kept it interesting and entertaining enough for me to warrant finishing the show.
Overall:
It's not a terrible anime by any means but it's just not anything special either.

Non Non Biyori is a true master of the slice of life genre. It doesn't follow the typical cliche things girls do in their free time in the city but instead accounts for what to do when the city isn't an option. The result of Non Non Biyori is a mixture of heartwarming, happiness, and nostalgia for your childhood. Non Non Biyori Repeat improves upon that even more and created one of the happiest times I've ever experienced watching anime.
Story: (9/10)
The story is pretty basic. It's the exact same as Non Non Biyori but takes place at different points in time between the first season
...
and shows them. Renge seems to have a much bigger presence in this season and I enjoyed her stories a lot as Renge is one of my favorite characters. What really makes the story amazing is all of the experiences these girls have. They all revolve around nature, small towns, and childhood.
Art: (10/10)
The backgrounds used in this anime are really where Non Non Biyori excels. They're absolutely stunning and create a beautiful world of nature to enjoy. The animation is a huge part of what makes this anime so enjoyable.
Sound: (8/10)
The sound is great as always. When the moments are right the music is always there to make the moment even more heartwarming and beautiful.
Character: (9/10)
The characters are the same as before. As stated, Renge is a lot more present in this season her stories really have the biggest point of nostalgia.
Enjoyment: (10/10)
Here's where this anime stands out. The enjoyment is very different from any other series I've experienced. For me, watching Non Non Biyori Repeat gave me an overwhelming sense of happiness and nostalgia, so much that I even cried a few times. I feel to truly enjoy this anime you had to have had a bit of experience with nature as a kid. The nostalgia that oozes out of this anime is based on reliving a bit of the childhood you did have, and the childhood you wanted to have.
So if you want to relive your early life with nature and you enjoyed Non Non Biyori even a little, make sure to tackle Repeat. It's a great continuation that has by far truly been the best slice of life I've seen yet.

Kill la Kill is by far my favorite action anime so far and after finishing it I'm left obsessed with the show and everything about it. The story and plot twists kept me wanting more. I fell in love with most of the major characters and their appropriate voice actors. The animation was unique and had a nice and colorful charm to it. And the music kept the epic moments in the anime to a maximum.
Story: (7/10)
The story would have been perfect if it wasn't for the filler at the beginning of the season. The first 8 episodes slowly introduce plot points but doesn't reflect
...
how the show is in the later portion. But if you can look past that then just try to get to the point after as the show starts to take itself very seriously and really develops unique action-packed comedy that is Kill la Kill.
The main plot of the story revolves around clothing and "life fibres" that affect humans and are utilized for their power to give people super human strength. Although the plot gets even stranger and more ridiculous as time goes on and some people think of this as satire, I beleive Kill la Kill takes itself very seriously and doesn't allow the absurdity of the plot take away from the experience. Kill la Kill ends up to be more spoiler heavy than most series and the few plot twists that exist keep grabbing more and more of my attention.
Characters: (10/10)
Who needs character development? Although many of the characters never changed or develop throughout the anime, the show instead lets the viewer learn more about the characters as they reveal more of their personality and views. Kill la Kill ends up proving that character development isn't essential to making amazing characters. Every character in this anime is wonderfully unique. Each character represents a strong and exaggerated personality that best suits them and no-one else. Many characters have gags to them that never go out of style and avoid being overused. If I didn't care to have a unique favorite characters section I would favorite most of the characters in Kill la Kill.
The main character's best friend Mako Mankanshoku, is just a bundle of happiness and energy and she's always there to bring the comedy and support Ryuuko. Ira Gamagoori is the biggest strongarm with a very dominant yelling personality. He's honorable and even has soft spot that really makes him a lovable character. And then there's Nui Harime, the biggest psychopathic pretty princess out there. Viewers either hate for her bitchiness or love her for her evil adorableness.
Animation: (8/10)
The animation and art gives the show a refreshing uniqueness from regular anime. Every non-standard Goku uniform made for each character is unique. In the beginning of the anime, many of Ryuuko's enemies have ridiculous and over exaggerated animations but that happens less often as the anime progresses. Many people in Kill la Kill even have their own animation style. Mako for instance has very little animation during her rants to seem like she's full of energy and jumping all over the place. Ira Gamagoori's physical size seems to not have a solid scale compared to other people. His face and stare just tear through your soul in the most menacing ways. And Nui Harime, because she's a psychopath and takes nothing seriously her combat animations are often smooth rotations of the arms without any flexing. It fits her perfectly and shows she's a force to be reckoned with.
About the Ecchiness: Yes Kill la Kill is ecchi, however, it doesn't flaunt that it as it's primary selling point like most ecchi anime. This is an anime about clothing and fighting the power of uniforms, so they will get ripped off but ecchiness is never used in those instances. Ryuuko's uniform is an impressive combination of sexy and badass and it's the first time I'd consider buying a sexy anime figurine of something without being embarrassed. Due to the ecchiness in the anime there are some perverts but the perverted nature of the characters starts to go away after the story gets serious. Yes there are quite a few ass shots in Kill la Kill so if this bothers you greatly then this anime may not be for you. All in all the ecchiness never ruins any of the action scenes and flows nicely with the anime. I think it slightly added to the anime but others who don't like it may disagree.
Sound: (10/10)
Kill la Kill has an impressive and skilled roster of English voice actors to represent each character. Every voice actor matches their character perfectly (Although I've heard Uzu Sanageyama's Japanese voice actor was a much better match for the him). There is also an impressive soundtrack to Kill la Kill. Many characters have their own themes and many of the songs make for impressive battle music. Kill la Kill would not have been the same without the epic music that brought it to life.
Enjoyment: (9/10)
This would have been a perfect 10 if the filler episodes at the beginning weren’t so repetitive. Overall I greatly enjoyed Kill la Kill. Once I was hooked I couldn’t stop.
