Similarities -Both anime share a similar kind of character development for the male MC -Both anime have similar settings where Tokyo is found to be a very dangerous place -Both anime have amazing animation though Tokyo Ghoul is more graphic and gory than Guilty Crown -Both anime share the fact that the music is amazing and fits very well to the stories Differences -Shu and Kaneki originally just start of pretty similar, though once they go through significant hardships (which I will not go into detail with) they split off, Kaneki basically becomes a badass, and Shu becomes a really big jerk. -The stories are a little similar in the environment in which they're set but apart from that they are vastly different

Horimiya

Both have... -Troubled male MC who doesn't socialize with people all that much -Female MC who get's the guy to socialize -Supporting character that builds a group around the male MC Though Horimiya drifts away from the Mcs and gives audience a more detailed profile on the supporting characters. Less drama related and not so much about the relationship between the Mcs but it's a good anime to go to if you enjoyed Real Girl.
