Both Sakugan and Gurren Lagann are set into an underground ambiance where most of the humanity live there, using a lot of drilling mechas to advance progress in their worlds. In Gurren Lagann, there's a boy with a young adult who want to become the best of their world. However, in Sakugan, there's a girl with her young dad who only want to explore the world. Shimon and Memempu are very clever children in spite to their young ages, and Kamina and Gagumber are very laid back young adults.

SSSS.Gridman
|
Innovative modern staples animes of their respective genders, which includes signifcant slice of life and comedy aspects to the series. SSSS.Gridman is a mecha anime that explore the intricate relationships of the main characters with their environment and their enemies. While the comedy is more subdued than in YuYuYu, it clearly dwells more into the psychedelic Neon Genesis paraphernalia. Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru is a more balanced mix of extreme drama and magical girl suffering with overt slice of life issues, which augments even more the despair of the Club girls. Both also have a red haired MC, but Yuuna is cheerful and Yuuta is skeptical; and an apparent strong but depressive black haired well endowed girl with Mimori Togo and Rikka Takarada, respectively.

|
Altought both animes are extremely different to each other, the MC of Wonder Egg and Neon Genesis are 14 years old persons who have several psychological traumas that affect clearly their relationships with other people. Not only that, they share that there are two settings, the real world and the onirical world. They follow for the earlier part the monster-of-the-week structure with the monsters (Angels in Evangelion) being quite different and some of them are pretty psychedelic. In the battles, the MCs of Wonder Egg Priority and Neon Genesis Evangelion struggle mightly against their own minds, while most of the time cruise in beating the monsters. In WEP, most of the cast are females, while in NGE, there is a more balanced gender distribution.

Machikado Mazoku
|
Mahou Shoujo animes that parody the Magical Girl genre in some way or another, however the comedy of each anime vary greatly and may not be for all. Machikado Mazoku includes demons with magical girls, instead it's mostly uneventful and it's closer to the traditional CGDCT genre, recommended for all ages. Panty & Stockings is much more closer to the traditional mahou shoujo genre, but the girls are pretty hedonistic and can have very colourful language and scenes, also has experimental animation there.

Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai!

Two very ecchi romances with an average male MC and with an extremely annoying short girl with abnormally big breasts. Just don't expect deep thoughts, clever ideas, just typical cliches of romances, panties flowing your screen, annoying behaviour from the big breasted loli to the main male character. The main difference between Uzaki-chan and Hajimete is that the first one, the big breasted loli, Hana Uzaki is the main girl, while in the latter one, Nene Fujinoki, is a less prominent girl.

What happens when the father of a pure daughter makes dirty mangas for a living? Well, Kakushigoto and Midara na Ao-chan are both into the same business that the father is a famous ecchi mangaka, however, in Kakushigoto, the mangaka dad hides to his daughter his actual job, while in Midara, the father openly says that he draws ecchi manga. The daughters are pure, but different, Hime is 10-11 years old in most of the story, and she's oblivious to what his father does for living, Ao is completely aware of her dad and his colourful mangas, due to her age (18), she's already psychoed by her father's "advices" on literally everything. The biggest difference is that in Kakushigoto is only limited to the father-daughter relationship, while in Ao-chan Can't Study that role takes a second seat and focuses more on the potential romantic relationships for Ao.

Animes whose main girls are new-girl-in-town and have several difficulties to open themselves to their new classmates/friends. Hana from Slow Start is because she got sick and forced to miss a year, Hinako from Hinako Note has tremendous difficulties to even mantain a simple conversation. The landladies which the MC live are soft spoken, well-endowed and are very helpful with the main cast. In SS, Shion is related to Hana, while Chiaki is not. From the rest, there's the loli girl (Kamuri and Mayuri), the weird one (Tama-chan and Kuu-chan), and the upbeat one who is attracted to an older girl (Eiko and Yua). Both animes are classified as CGDCT Slice of Life comedies, but Hinako Note has a more consistent plot and its core theme is acting, Slow Start is more tranquil, but with less content.

Sports animes that have very cute and hot girls doing exercises that also have educational situations in teaching the intricates of the exercises/sport being shown in the series. Dumbbell is focused only on gym training and the correct way to doing that training to avoid injuries, it also presents a lot of tips to doing simple exercises without spending too much money. Harukana is rather centered on beach volley and the tactics/strategies the sport is played with more character development along the way. Both animes have comedic situations and very sexy situations without putting off the viewer at any moment. Highly recommended to people who like CGDCT anime and persons who want to train your body.

While the characters are not similar at all, you can make the case for Chitoge Kirisaki (Nisekoi) and Nino Nakano (Hanayome) for being the classical tsunderes.

Sawako Kuronuma from Kimi ni Todoke was nicknamed Sadako due to the similarities to a ghost, and she makes involuntary weird faces that scare people around her. Blend S and Kimi ni Todoke has comedy and slice of life situations, but while the former is an almost pure SoL comedy, the latter's main attraction is romance.

Darling in the FranXX
|
Well... What can i say about Sword Art Online and Darling in the Franxx? First of all, Asuna Yuuki and Zero Two, the main female characters of SAO and Darling respectively, are voiced by Haruka Tomatsu. Also both main girls are the biggest reason that both animes are pretty attractive to the casual anime fan, also Asuna and Zero Two hold the quality of the plot. Kirito and Hiro, the main male characters, are the perfect complement to the main girl, but have several defects due to their closed environment. The main difference is that Hiro is more "normal" and Kirito is more OP. From the back side of the cast, a short-haired childhood friend/cousin has feelings for the male MC, Suguha and Ichigo present some complex views about their world. The rest of the cast of SAO is mainly composed by girls (Rika, Keiko, Shino), while in Darling is equally gender balanced (Females: Ichigo, Kokoro, Miku, Ikuno) (Males: Goro, Mitsuru, Zorome, Futoshi). The contents are very different, but the same values of family, tradition, love and conservatism are present in both animes, while in Sword Art Online are the default values of its world, in Darling it's what the parasites aspire to recover. However, Sword Art Online is centered in the adventures of the virtual world, and Darling in the Franxx is the crude dystopian life of the plantations. Both animes managed to generate a high impact in the otaku fandom, as they went out to be trascendental animes to watch for the casual fans, SAO being more accessible than Darling. The impact also managed to generate a hardcore fan group that has been cornered because of an equally hardcore hate group, so the polarization that both animes generated managed to stigmatize both.

Release the Spyce

Release the Spyce is the non magical, spy centered version of Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru. While Spyce doesn't reach the heights of YuYuYu, it also manages to give you enjoyment with nice girls who are basically carbon copies of each other's anime. The main characters in RTS and YuYuYu are short haired pink girls who are very happy-go-lucky in normal times, but get serious when push comes to shove, Momo and Yuuna are also the ones who have more character development during the show. Their mentors and best friends of the MC are well-endowed girls who suffered the loss of functionality of one of the part of their body, Yuki's right eye and Togo's legs respectively. They also tend to be very patriotic and they're the voice of reason of their respective group. The leaders (Hatsume and Fuu) are very hot blonde girls who also are the oldest of the cast, both of them are charming, too. Last but not least, there's the twin tailed tsunderes (Fu and Karin) who are impulsive, but also very competent on battle. In both animes, the girls use an enhacer to improve greatly their physical and magical talent for a limited time. While the Spyce of RTS is only for higher physical enhacing, it's also for unlimited consumption; however the Mankai of YuYuYu has secondary effects and it's only usable for a few times overall.

Both are also romantic shoujo ai, Yumi and Sachiko are very close to each other, due to the more solemn ambiance of Maria-sama, but never crosses the line to overt lesbian love; Touko's love is more unidirectional in the first part of Bloom into You, and Yuu is mostly indifferent at the start of the anime. Maria-sama ga Miteru has a expansive cast and gives more time to the relationships and problems of the other girls, but Yagate Kimi ni Naru is mostly focused in the main pairing of Yuu and Touko.

Main male character Tada and Aoi are depicted as cold and completely focused in their hobby, Mitsuyoshi with photography and Yuito with art. Both of them are in the Photography Club of their schools with more friends, though in IroDuku, Aoi is the only one in the art section. The big divergence is in the content of their stories, IroDuku is much more dramatic and ambitious, Tada-kun is much more relaxed, but also never got the ambition and has lazy characters.

Genshiken and Grand Blue are arguably the best examples of college club life and all of their chaotic everyday lives and somehow complex web of relationships who won't fail you to make you laugh. Mostly Genshiken centers about otaku life and the insides of the Society of Study of Modern Visual Culture, a club who basically doesn't do nothing. Grand Blue has the similar theme of the Diving Club, where all happens but the actual diving, also there's quite a liking in GB for drinking alcohol. In both animes, the males are the ones who actually lead the comedy their respective shows, the new guy (Sasahara and Kitahara), the hot blonde but hardcore otaku guy (Kohsaka and Imamura), the sturdy guys, the hot girl who is very extrovert (Ono and Azusa), and of course the cold and distant female (Saki and Chisa). For older anime fans, Genshiken and Grand Blue are absolutely the finest adult slice of life animes that currently exist.
