Prepare to be immersed in the cosmic symphony of Metalic Rouge – an anime experience that combines god-like OST, a decent storyline, and an endearing duo at its core. While it falls short of greatness, there's still plenty to enjoy in this intergalactic adventure.
Let's break it down:
Story
Set in a sci-fi universe grappling with the timeless question of artificial life forms' rights, Metalic Rouge begins with a slow burn that ignites into thrilling action as it progresses. What starts as a Slice of Life infused with action gradually morphs into a high-octane rollercoaster ride. However, the pacing falters towards the end, leaving the storytelling feeling a
...
bit chaotic.
Characters
While not reaching the iconic status of the Chisato-Takina duo from Lycoris Recoil, the Naomi and Rouge partnership exudes a charming synergy that carries the slower moments. Unfortunately, the supporting cast remains largely forgettable, with only a few attempts at individuality that fail to leave a lasting impression.
Music
The OST, crafted by the talented yamaguchi yuma, is nothing short of mesmerizing. Each composition is a masterpiece in its own right, leaving you hitting repeat long after the credits roll. However, the abrupt transitions between tracks within the anime itself can dampen the overall impact.
Animation
While not groundbreaking, the animation holds its own. Free of any glaring flaws, it serves its purpose well, allowing the narrative to unfold without distraction.
Verdict
Metalic Rouge may lose some steam towards the end, but its initial charm is undeniable. Dive into the first few episodes to experience the magic for yourself – from the captivating OST to the delightful duo dynamic and the intriguing blend of sci-fi and Slice of Life elements.

Why Heion Sedai no Idaten-tachi is one of the most iconic anime of last decade?
In short, it includes:
- JJK's like fast-paced action;
- Soul Eater's / Devilman: Crybaby's like aesthetically pleasant artstyle;
- battles of wits (not Death Note level, still can give a headstart to JoJo);
- hidden between the lines philosophical concepts (for example, coexistence of different races, war questions, science dillemas);
- dirty topics, which are needed not just as a fan service, but also complement story and setting;
- catchy characters: each with their own peculiarities;
- great ost, which only is opening worth.
...
Overall anime rating 10/10
Further goes more detailed review for sophisticated readers.
Story 10/10
Idatens, demons, people - everyone with their own interests interacts with each other. Some lives for science knowledge, some tries to reach new heights, some follows the teachings of their ancestors, some only satisfy their animal needs, others just exists.
Military theme raises up even in times of peace. This is what happens in Heion Sedai no Idaten-tachi. To avoid spoilers, I will not go into the details of the plot. However Heion Sedai no Idaten-tachi is one of the few pieces of art, in which events do not happen on their own, and the storyline moves based on the actions of the characters, which fit logically and do not contradict everything that we have learned earlier.
Art 10/10
Artstyle of the anime may not be for everyone, however, in my opinion, it suits the setting well.
Sound 9/10
Opening song became one of my favourite. Other soundtrack splendidly accompanies all the anime doings.
Character 10/10
Every Idaten has unique character, which makes them truly memorable. I can't say the same about minor characters, but there are also many bright personalities among them (for instance, Miku and Piscalat). As I said everyone has their goal and methods to achieve it.
Enjoyment 10/10
For the current moment i can be charmed with all the Idaten's vibe, nevertheless the anime is remarkably entertaining.

NO SPOILER REVIEW
Domestic na Kanojo is a story about growing up, understanding love from many perspectives. Author pushes narrative towards realism, and, in my opinion, this approach really suitable to romance genre (a certain similarity to "Aku no Hana" and "Oyasumi Punpun" can be found). But at the same time, this manga includes some harem elements, which are quite inconsistent with the whole realism concept.
I read the manga after it was fully published, so I found the ending, which was marked as quality decline by fans, almost logical in terms of the nature of the characters, which are quite odd (see character section).
Story 6/10.
It's a
...
wonderful story about love, growing up, overcoming real life troubles and life in general, but realism with harem elements is a dangerous mix, add to this logic failure in a few story key moments, and you will get Domestic na Kanojo.
Art 10/10.
Beautiful art is one of the main advantages of the manga. Just one look on detailed food, and you are already in a hungry mood. Character emotions are well shown with contrast. And for all the time I was reading, I never thought about what exactly is shown in the frame, because of well-defined elements.
Character 5/10.
Most of supporting characters are just not developed or shown superficially - they are like some NPC from video game with constant nature. Rui's and Hina's characters are well described, you can get theirs emotions, mood, you can empathize them. Natsuo character is well described either, but his actions in the story key moments, which I've mentioned before, is illogical (this is the biggest problem of this work).
Enjoyment 8/10.
Despite logic failure of main character story, excellent work from slice of life philosophy and real romance perspective.
Overall 7/10 (mean of previous topics).
I really enjoyed this manga, empathized a few characters and got some food for thought.

As a people, who have seen all gintama series before movies, I can say that this movie as a standalone work is not perfect and not representing all essence of Gintama series.
Despite this, the movie is really well done, develops a few main characters (Katsura, Takasugi, Gintoki and etc.), has humor and drama core of Gintama.
All in all:
Story 8/10 (Rapidly developing story, not like any other Gintama stories, movie format has its drawbacks)
Art 9/10 (Not best, but really good);
Sound 8/10 (Appropriate, but not amazing);
Character 7/10 (It's not possible to show all Gintama charaters in few hours);
Enjoyment 7/10 (Really short to show essence of Gintama
...
Series, but everyone can enjoy it);
Overall 7.8/10, rounds to 8/10.
