Similarities- The story follows the life of the mc as he is thrown into the world of survival of the fittest. The line's between what is human and beast is constantly brought into question. Think is it wrong to take a life when you're own life is on the line. Right and wrong have a different meaning in these anime so be prepared for a bit of psychopathy and alot of death. Disimilarities- While btoom follows a more modernized world, jyu oh sei is more of a scifi(that won't matter much in the beginning though). Jyu Oh Sei has a different pace then btoom thanks to timeskips. Btoom I would say touches the psychological aspect a bit more thoroughly then jyu oh sei(My personal opinion). Mainly the effects of killing a human being on an individual. While Jyu Oh Sei derrives attention on the mcs force of will I suppose. Finally in btoom there isn't exactly an underlying purpouse for the actions of those that put them there. In btoom the primarily revolves around the characters in a game of death. Jyu Oh Sei is more focused on why they were put there, being less a death game and more a group vying for survival on a world were the very planet itself is against them.

Clannad: After Story

Both feature a romantic relationship and it's challenges beyond marriage. While clannad digs deeper in tragedy, drawing you in to the characters slowly and finally they throw you into lava only to pull you back out again. Itazura No Kiss takes a different approach, focusing more on the developement of each character as a person. Both are slice of life while clannad features a bit of a fantasyish twist. At the end having watched both anime I can pretty much say- Itazura na kiss is a bit more light hearted, and brings out a kind of warm hearty laugh. Don't get me wrong it can be harsh as the female mc has it rough. There were times that I wished that I could go in there and beat the mc with a baseball bat. Not because he's dense but because he isn't honest with himself, to the point were you wonder how the female mc puts up with it.(I personally feel amazed at her inhuman patience) However in the end because of that you will let out a warm hearted laugh all the more. Clannad AS on the other hand is going to rip you're heart out of you're chest, make you cry(Might wanna leave the windows open to let the water out) and then fix you up making the world right again.(That scar will still be there though for the most part) One thing I need to mention is that to get the most out of both anime you need to watch the entire thing through and through. Don't get off the emotional rolercoaster even if you feel it's to much. Especially Clannad AS. From my experience people will drop Clannad AS when it hit's the peak and let me tell you if you don't get to the end of the ride you will feel all that much worse.

They both thrive on a form of mature comedy that you wouldn't find in any other anime.
