Kyou kara Mirai is both more than the sum of its parts and a surprisingly good read.
Story: One girl likes the other and gives her an ultimatum: Go out with me or I'll move on from you when we graduate high school. This premise isn't exactly what is conveyed (at least in my translation), but that's the idea. The plot meanders for a while before introducing elements that do a good job livening up each chapter. In the latter half, there is enough going on in an exciting sort of way to keep you going. The earlier, more meandering parts of this manga are often

Another totally fine, average manga. TLDR: Go read something else. Even something else that's mediocre will probably be better.
Story: There's not much to speak of here. The premise of the story is mundane to the point of absurdity. I was expecting some further hook or plot development, but it never happened. This is really more of a compilation of one shots despite having continuing elements. In that light, it's not as bad. Art: The art style overall is okay, and maybe even the strongest point of this manga. Character designs, while good, could be a bit more distinct from each other. The paneling was fine ... Overall an interesting set of short stories with a couple of standouts.
Art: generally fine, though nothing special. Definitely of its era. Characters are far too similar to each other, often making the narratives a little more confusing than they should be. Story: Lots a fun and interesting premises. Some of the premises though are just: what if queer people existed?? It's done in a charming enough way that it's not an issue. This is definitely part of what makes the comic feel dated, but I liked reading an older comic with queer people in it. A fun little read if you have the time. ... Feb 9, 2025

Overall, a pretty good read.
Plot: While the story is somewhat average, it has a good hook early on and keeps you guessing. This slows down a bit towards the end, then ends impressively well with a fun twist. Chemistry: Largely believable, the feelings the main characters share for each other are well portrayed and make sense. The story does a nice job depicting the different levels of surety of two people's affection for each other. Art: Great facial expressions are the strongest aspect of the art. Characters frequently have odd ways of expressing how they're feeling in a way that keeps the panels fun. Character ... Jan 20, 2025
Two oneshots and a third that is only four panels. Each are fine, though very basic.
The art in each one is okay, though basic. The first has uninteresting paneling with the second short being notably better arranged. The third is too short to even consider this aspect. Characters are decently portrayed, but again, basic. The second and third shorts have the clearest ideas for each character in a nice way. The premises are, again, fine. Somehow the four page one is the best. Overall, a quick, totally okay, 15 minute read. The best thing going for each short is the decent amount of angst. Nov 17, 2024

If you want something light and fluffy, I guess this could fit the bill. Even then, this series suffers from a lack of conflict.
Art: Generally fine. Some of the character designs are notably better than others, though everyone is drawn well enough. Backgrounds were sparse, but okay when they were there. The paneling legibility was a bit of a mess. From panel to panel there would often be large leaps that made it hard to understand exactly what was going on. Story: The premise is that a human girl accidentally goes to an all vampire school so she can be with the girl she loves. ... Nov 14, 2024

They are only minor spoilers in this review.
I found this to be an incredibly boring manga with many wild coincidences that fueled the plot and a confusing, passive protagonist. I do not recommend this. Art: Overall, the art was fine with decent portraits. However, backgrounds were sparse, character designs were at times too similar to each other, and more generally I would say the designs aren't particularly memorable. A minor gripe I have is the dearth of interesting outfits throughout the manga. Interesting fashion is one of my favorite things about quite a bit of yuri and shoujo ai, particularly when it's set in the ... Nov 9, 2024

A good premise that doesn't quite deliver.
Story: The manga starts out strong and manages to pull you along for about the first half. Around that point, The manga starts doing time compressions, except it doesn't really feel like much time has passed. There are these montages, that visually are quite fun, but ultimately they don't do a great job of showing the passage of time. That is to say, from a plot perspective, I don't think the plot is rushed, but the manga feels rushed towards the latter half. There's a feeling of the mangaka knowing the larger plot points and where everything needs ... Nov 8, 2024
Stop!! Hibari-kun!

Okay, listen. Hibari-kun isn't going to be the #transRepresentation you desire. It certainly wasn't for me. It will not be that. But there's something indelible about who she, Hibari, is as a person. She's confidant about who she is at every turn. She's stylish. She can handle herself and all the wacky hijinks just fine. Rather charmingly, she has a very real, consistent infatuation with Kohasku.
This is a wildly transphobic manga, but I kind of recommend it to my fellow trans folk? Hibari is, despite the intense nature of this gag comic, someone who anyone would want to be. We aspire to being the weird, ... Nov 8, 2024

Okay! Putting my hat in the ring here by saying I thought the ending was great and made sense. That's the most important thing to take from my review given the other reviews. I mean, I think I see what the other people are saying, but overall I liked the ending quite a bit. Onto the regular review!
Art: Fantastic! Good character designs with great scenery. Facial expressions are generally quite emotive, sometimes even fairly subtle. The artist is great at spreads. Story: for the most part this is run-of-the-mill Yuri, though the premise with the love arrows shakes it up just enough. I also like ... |
