This anime is one of the gems of the season.
First off please check the Genre - Isekai Parody
It should be enough to let you know if you want to start it.
After first 3 episodes, it is more of a slice of life tales of wisdom.
Story - It has a unique story about an isekaid MC who actually doesn't want to be there and just wanted to die. (In trailer and first minute of show)
The misadventures that follow are hilarious and have more depth than many famous shows.
This show is having great writing and it showed till 4th ep and will continue in upcoming episodes.

Imagine if you take 4 5 episodes of plot progress and add it to a season of Slime diaries (making a total of 24 episodes).
This pathetic crossover is what the greedy studio has churned out. 16 episodes can be summarized in less than 30 min. A season full of meetings/discussions/planning for everything. Just long conversations with no major reveals/progress. Animation - 6/10 There are barely fights in 4-6 episodes. The remaining episodes are meeting which barely require that much efforts in animation. ...

Correct genre - Slice of Life/Drama/Isekai/Fantasy/Adventure
Season 2 part 1 was average because the plot was building up to some conclusions. Season 2 part 2 starts off epic slow for 4 out of 6 episodes (Slice of life). (exceptions - Ep 3) Then when it feels like next episode will be unbearable it gives a good worthy episode. (Ep 5) Followed by preparation in Ep 6. The last 6 episodes are like a complete movie which has everything - Action/Romance/Drama/Adventure. The direction has been poor for first half of this cour. The correct way to handle this part of manga would have been to created 3 40 min episodes to handle the ...

This is a gem of a anime (it is borderline parody of magic fantasy harem animes)
We have a Super Overpowered eccentric protagonist. He adventures, has fun and most importantly studies magic. You might be wondering then why give such high scores. Answer - The pace of this anime is amazing. They have 2 minutes kept entirely for chibi/fun. The rest of it is high paced intense story progression. There is humor, action, magic and for some reason unknown to mankind (harem element - though people are loving it a lot). Even side characters (so many) are given some backstory/depth. ...

The show promised to be a Comedy, Fantasy, Gourmet.
In the first 11 episodes, it was an average Fantasy gourmet show at best. Then they decided to turn it into a dark edgy thriller with no heads or tails. They did not explain completely how or what happened in first season. I judge a show by the Genres. It could have been a happy go lucky gourmet comedy fantasy. Or it could have been a high intensity suspense action thriller dungeon journey. It is neither. A gross chimera has emerged by combining these two parts. This is an underrated anime.
Screenplay - 8/10 The story continues from Season 1 and touches so many dark crevices of the society - Racism, Deforestation, Utter lack of respect for nature, Greed, Fear, Monster within you, self doubt and are depicted in a way that do justice to those arcs. This is a perfect example of how a great concept could be foiled by mediocre character writing.
It has a bratty entitled MC who has some growth. But how he became so entitled is never explained. The concept is of a hyper realistic full dive VR game. They take the realistic part literally. The other characters are all good. But writer forgot that usually people stick for the MC or some important recurring character. The MC is irritable to put it mildly. The story and world building is great. But the MC reduces it from a great anime to a hard watch. ...

Undead Unluck is a great action comedy shounen.
It has a great storyline with more arcs to follow. The screenplay is superb with each character being given enough depth as needed by that chraracter. The characters grow with time and do not stay stagnant. The action sequences are amazing. The humor is little bit of gag and timing based comedy. The overall plotline is wonderful and truly enjoyable. This show is for adult audience not for kids. (NSFW at times and characters/plots are too mature for kids to understand) Definitely watch this show if you are into action comedy fantasy genre.

Do watch recap of previous seasons/movies before starting this or you'll have no clue.
If you watch it out of blue, you will be left wondering why some character behaves the way they do. The characters seemed more real than previous seasons with actual human behavior like PTSD, fear, anxiety not some fake emotions written by an AI. The fight sequences were great. There was character growth in most characters and if you have seen complete recap of previous seasons and movies, you will likely relate and understand their character motivations. The animation was good, screenplay is good. The story ends at an interesting point. Overall a good continuation of previous story. |
