I was told to watch this anime from a friend, because they told me it was "so good" and one one of their favourites.
After watching the first season, I've personally dubbed this "Generic: The Anime". The characters have about as much life in them as cardboard cutouts. The dialogue, of which there is a LOT (it makes sense being that it's about merchant trading and finances) is clunky and feels forced a good chunk of the time. There have only been about three moments where I've actively KIND OF wanted to know what was going to happen, and likewise those are about the only three
...
moments I even remember.
I want to focus more on the characters. Lawrence has zero personality beyond "that merchant guy who gets in trouble". He's not funny, he's not really likeable, actually he's the worst sort of anime idiot, in my perspective. Holo, the "great female lead" people have told me about, is downright insufferable. She comes across as snotty and superior, but talks way more about how amazing and so wise she is than she ever actually demonstrates her defining character trait. She's arrogant, demanding, and...She just gets on my nerves. None of the other characters are worth mentioning, they're as uninteresting as the leads.
Everyone speaks very monotone in the dub, which makes boring financial dialogue even more boring. Is there background music? If there is I don't even remember. The opening is pretty bland and the ending is something I skip everytime, so nothing in the sound department stands out or impresses me at all.
Art wise, everything but the backgrounds look very generic, including Holo and especially Lawrence. The backgrounds, at least, look like there was real effort to make them look nice and soft. But medieval trading isn't going to give you any really visually stunning backgrounds...Again, they DO look really nice for what they are.
Overall, do I think this anime is particularly bad? Despite my abysmal scores of it, not really. I just find it so, so tedious, with a lead I personally can't stand, and nothing of interest really happening. I do, however, hope others can enjoy it as much as others I've talked to seem to, and as much as the other reviews here do too. This one's just not for me, and if financial dialogue doesn't do much for you, I most certainly cannot recommend this anime.

I was recommended to watch both the original Hellsing anime, and Hellsing Ultimate. This review will be about the original anime, but there will be mentions of Ultimate, without spoilers.
Hellsing has an interesting premise, great voice acting, and a good soundtrack. However, considering it has its own story due to being made before the manga was finished, the writing and characters feel a little clunky and awkward at times, especially compared to Ultimate. The characters are generally fine, though, despite the clunky and awkward feel. Seras Victoria is about the only one I like here less than in Ultimate, but that's just me.
The art also
...
feels clunky and awkward sometimes, and dark. Yes, this is a dark anime thematically, and it would naturally have a dark colour palette to match, but sometimes it's too dark to even see what's going on, or anything around. As a visual person who still enjoys dark palettes, that kind of bothered me.
Generally those are my problems with it: sometimes awkward, sometimes clunky, sometimes too dark to see. The voice cast does a wonderful job, and even if it does take itself too seriously (even Ultimate doesn't do this), it can be fun a decent amount of the time.
Without spoilers, my enjoyment and overall score of this anime is pretty much purely based on the final episode. No spoilers, but if you can make it through the early stuff just fine, then I believe this anime is worth watching for that last episode.

I won't give this anime slack for being incomplete, even without any attempt at a satisfying conclusion, whether for a season or otherwise. I knew that going in, so it wouldn't be quite fair.
However, that set aside, it really disappointed. The story, which sees Ganta Igarashi being imprisoned in a cruel, brutal and privately owned prison-slash-amusement park (which is a very disturbed concept to begin with, so shouldn't that at least have been somewhat interesting?), veers off-course at least twice, and those veers aren't insignificant. Is it really about the prison, or is it about the sudden superpowers that show up almost out of the
...
blue? I know the answer may be "both", but what we did have going on about the prison was suddenly tossed aside for the powers.
The art is decent, but not exactly the nicest looking style if you ask me. That's pretty subjective, though, so I'm sure lots of people like the look of it a lot more.
The music is pretty good. The opening theme, in particular, is much better than the rest of the anime (really, you might as well watch the opening and skip the rest of it, if you really want my opinion). Why do I give the sound a 5 then? Ganta Igarashi's dub voice is one of the most annoying voices I've heard in my dubbed anime history (which includes 4Kids, for perspective). I really do want to feel bad for this kid, he really is in a crap situation and I'm sure most people would react to his situation the way he does, but that voice really gets on my nerves.
The main characters are not at all interesting, at least to me. Ganta whines and cries an babbles on uselessly. Shiro is mysterious, but mostly just comes off annoying (particularly if you don't look up spoilers). Crow is about the coolest character in the show, and about the only one I actually like, but that may just be because he's voiced by Patrick Seitz in the dub; if it were anyone else, I probably wouldn't even like him.
In terms of enjoyment, and overall, it was a drag. It was pretty boring, and as far as it being a violent and gory anime, well...I guess so. But there honestly wasn't that much gore (at least in the version I watched. Maybe that was the censored version and it's much worse). I'll give it kudos, I guess, for having some hard-to-watch scenes. I was just expecting more in terms of violence and gore, and was quite disappointed with what we seem to have gotten. Guess I shouldn't have watched Hellsing Ultimate before this.
Overall, while I would like to be able to recommend Deadman Wonderland, I just can't. If you absolutely want to know the story, read the manga. Otherwise, I'd give this one a pass.

At first, I didn't like Cowboy Bebop. I found the art okay, the pacing to be slow, the episodic bounties to be boring. Spike wasn't very interesting, Faye was annoying, and Jet was okay. The only thing I really liked about it was the music.
However, closer to episode 10, I found it to be more interesting. Besides episode 11, which almost made me stop watching entirely, it just steadily got better and better, and I'm glad I kept going. Ed became more charming, Spike became more interesting, Faye got less annoying, Jet became more likeable. When the episode is actually tied to the main cast,
...
they're generally really good. It's the episodes that stand on their own and really have nothing to do with anything personal about the main crew that flop.
If you're looking for a consistent plot throughout, then pick up a different series. But if you want some decent characters with a little bit plot occasionally interspersed throughout, give it a shot. It might surprise you. The sense of humor, for me, is fairly weak though. I can recognize when it's trying to be funny, but it never actually makes me laugh. But that's not what people watch it for.
