Kill la Kill has the same feel as Gurren Lagann, From the over the top, bold character design, to the cheesy, loud motivational rants and one-liners. That being said, this is in no way a complaint. Though both can seem cheesy and "trope-y", they have so much more to them one you dedicate yourself. I would even say Kill la Kill is an awesome amalgamation of Gurren Lagann and FLCL(and if that isn't a recipe for success, i don't know what is.)

The only real difference in these animes are the length. Everyone who watches anime(and even a lot that don't) should watch FLCL. It is a terrific coming of age story that seems so weird, but pulls you in none the less. Kill la Kill is just as weird. As such, it pulls you in just as much. The similarities are to high to measure. Kill la Kill is basically what happens when FLCL knocks up Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Just give it 6 years to gestate, and you have the birth of an amazing show. It never ceases to amaze me, the way older shows influence new artists, and how easy it is to see what animes touched them the most. If you liked FLCL(and who couldn't??) watch Kill la Kill
