I enjoyed reading the first volume, the story sets the scene by introducing you to the Barista & Café Hachiwara, and its purpose.
The story is delivered from the perspectives of individual customers that the Barista sees, and whilst is quite a simple concept it works really well. I felt that in such a small time for each chapter, the author did a great job at giving each character a personality and a reason to be there.
The main character was really simple yet fun – I love the way Maijima was able to convey very cat-like mannerisms and personality in his artwork! The drinks served

to customers all looked very pretty, so I’d be very hopeful that it eventually gets an anime adaptation someday, so we can see it all in colour!
I think this manga would appeal to readers that enjoy something a little quirky and cute with good humor and thought provocation. If you appreciate a wholesome but also reflective slice-of-life story I think you’d love this!

Overall, I would recommend Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba to most anime fans!
It is very light on power systems in comparison to other shounen such as Hunter x Hunter or Jujutsu Kaisen – which makes it really easy to understand. There are some details around sword techniques and rankings – but nothing too hard to grasp. The characters are all very visually interesting and have a diverse range of personalities which I think will appeal to a wide audience.
As for the story, it doesn’t linger too long on one arc which helps to keep you engaged, but I do wonder if this might feel rushed?
...
If you typically enjoy shows that are more complex and technical, I think there could be an angle where Demon Slayer might feel simple or cliché due to its use of typical shounen tropes. Then again, I think that made it good for binge-watching – so it really depends on the mood you’re in!
Overall, it was a good watch, had good characters with diverse skills, and had many interesting enemies. I recommend Demon Slayer if you enjoy combat, big effects, and friendship building. It isn’t the best shounen I have seen, but it holds its own with cool visuals and character uniqueness!

For me, the art style was easily the main draw to this show, it seems to focus on bright, vibrant colors but also quite unique and quirky character designs that make them easily recognizable. It is a very pretty show and the animation flows beautifully making for really easy viewing.
There are 13 episodes of Horimiya, which when I learned that the manga has been going for many years, it seems like there should be way more!
I found the first half of the anime to be very typical backstory episodes with a lot of angst. I think it was totally necessary so that we could

learn the characters and see interactions that are being set up. Towards the second half of the show, it seemed to be less on backstory and more on pairings, love triangles, angst, and random funny happenings.
I don’t hate how it was paced, but I think it really could have benefitted from more episodes so that the things that happened towards the end didn’t feel so rushed or out of place.
The characters in Horimiya are all very cute and I love how colorful they are. I think some of them actually have very good personalities and have lots of potentials if they had the chance to be fleshed out in the show.
There were a lot of cutesy moments that felt very wholesome, but also a lot of quite deep and emotional scenes too that had me reflecting about my own life and things I had been through that were similar.
Overall I think Horimiya has a quite wholesome feeling to it but does get deep at times, so it doesn’t lose touch with the viewer - which I liked.
Overall the show is cute, very angsty, and quite funny. If either of these things is your cup of tea I’d recommend it. If you like the anticipation and angst that comes with romance then this is one for you. There are only 13 episodes so it’s a short anime. I don’t think it’d be a waste of an afternoon to watch it if you are looking for something new to try!

Furuba has a very heartwarming and homely feel to it – despite the story not always being wholesome. There is a huge range of characters introduced as episodes go by – each with a really unique design.
It’s really cool to see how their normal human forms bear a lot of resemblance and the personalities of their respective animals. I found it a lot of fun to try and figure out what animal each character was before they were revealed. The cutesy vibe to the first season really drew me in, and for me, there were no visually boring characters.
I felt that this season had very
...
good pacing overall! Each episode followed a good rhythm of introducing new characters, providing backstory, a little humor and silliness, and also cute romance! I didn’t think there were any episodes that felt like “pointless filler”. I ended up binge-watching most of it in one go! It’s really great when you get into it.
The opening and ending music videos are VERY cute - as an animal lover, seeing each of the zodiac animals playing around was soo cute.
To summarise, the show had a lot of emotional impact on me. Each episode was so good at making you feel all upbeat and happy, but it could turn easily into a deep life lesson, or something very real and thought-provoking.
Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend Fruits Basket to anyone who enjoys romance plots, loves animals and cute themes and likes shows that have a good balance of realism and fantasy.

The Way of the Househusband has a very simple visual design and animation. Mostly it felt more like watching a comic book, rather than being fully animated, I didn’t hate it, but it was a bit jarring at first because I hadn’t watched anything like it before. I think it lends to the lighthearted comedy value of the story though, but I wonder if it could be misconstrued as being low budget and low effort?
I actually felt like it kept my attention pretty well and it didn’t particularly slow down too much anywhere. It took me a moment to get my head around the chapter
...
system but overall once I understood the layout, it was easy to keep up with.
I spent a lot of time laughing throughout watching the show, the content was very lighthearted and funny. The way the author wrote Tatsu to be very intimidating and scary but he ends up doing something entirely innocent and cute – is so endearing and amusing to watch. The juxtaposition between the way he is perceived by others, as a Yakuza gangster, but the way he actually is – a loving, loveable, caring homebody is awesome…
This is a really good show to watch when you want something lighthearted, that isn’t particularly thought-provoking and just gives you good laughs. I think the comedy is really strong and it is overall super wholesome, it held my attention throughout and I didn’t get too bored anywhere. If you can work with the animation style I think this show has great potential to be really entertaining for a lot of people!
I would recommend The Way of the Househusband as a lighthearted, humorous watch for anyone looking for something relaxed and wholesome to watch.
I think you have to appreciate it for what it is rather than hold it to the standards of top hitting anime, and if you can gel with the visuals I think anyone can have fun watching this! It doesn’t feel aimed at any one audience and isn’t overloaded with stereotypical anime tropes that you often see.
If you have a Netflix subscription and have been debating over if you should watch it, I’d say give it a go. It’s only 5 episodes of approx 20 minutes each, so it’s not a huge loss if you start and find it isn’t for you.
