Thanks for the informative reply! I've seen someone else say this which is the same for me: I view my books/manga as a library more than a collection. So being able to pick out a book and rereading it is a big thing for me haha. So maybe that's why I'm against shrink wrapping etc. But it is a good method to protect your manga. Well pages aging like this is a natural process I guess so it can't be avoided. I'll just keep on storing in cabinets and shelves away from the sunlight and other conditions. But during the summer my room gets super hot and humid, that's a problem right? Guess I'll have to move my manga in another room :P
Yes, so many older manga are out of print now it's frustrating for me! I wanted to have the Gantz manga so badly but a few volumes are out of print. I checked on amazon and they're going for ridiculous prices haha, £116 (UK) for volume 3. I'm just buying lots of older manga atm while they're still available. Also if you order online like from amazon or book depository do you know how these guys store their stuff? I just got Asano Inio's Solanin today by them and the pages are slightly yellowish, but I think that might just be the default color of the paper and it seems to be of higher quality than the average manga volume since its a Viz sig release.
I find reading manga online a chore since I have to load up my phone/pc and go on the website etc. Too many tasks lol. Although most of my fave manga don't have english releases yet so I have to read them online.
I also see that Dark Horse comics and Viz media's Vizbig editions of manga have high quality paper, maybe even acid-free. If only all manga would have that sort of quality! But I guess this will make manga more expensive and unfeasible in terms of business.
I stumbled upon a thread you made about manga pages yellowing a couple of years ago. I have recently started buying print manga and was wondering how to best store manga and maybe slow down the papers aging. I read some of the methods you mentioned but I dont like the idea of wrapping my books in something. Anyway thank you for the help :)
